Chalk one up for growing organic
Comments (80)@olpea: Oh, my goodness, there are a bunch of pages I missed! I was in worse shape than I even realised, yesterday. Still pretty bad today. @Harvestman: >your desire to convince us and/or yourself that organic production is becoming comparably as cost affective as conventional Oh, dear, is that what you think I think?! I sure have been doing a terrible job of communicating, then. I was just looking for explanations of the facts on the ground at my local markets: OG stuff does not cost more than conventional across the board. Why is that? As for what the true costs are per acre, I don't really know if I am qualified to speculate. Certainly I am not saying that I know! I will go ahead and speculate, just so you will not have to imagine what I think ;). I think that, in most cases, people who use conventional methods do so because it is lower cost /to them/. When we factor in national costs such as military defense of oil, farm subsidies, health care and pollution... I don't know. By that I mean, I really have no opinion. I think that for some crops in some ecosystems, there may well be no personal-cost benefit to non organic methods, and people who use them might just do so because they don't know that. I certainly do not think this is the case for all crops everywhere! To me, that idea is absurd. I am a little befuddled that you would pin it on me, but I guess I am a stranger to you....See MoreWhat to do with this custom entertainment unit - pic heavy
Comments (34)I have a post on here asking about my office color. And your hooker piece is EXACTLY the one I am eyeing for my office..... in the same color way. Have you seen it IRL? It's not a solid black. It's rubbed with some reds and bronzes, etc. It's really beautiful, so those who suggested the rub have a great idea. That's the beauty of hooker... they do several "layers" and their pieces have so much dimension. I love the piece your hubby made. It's beautiful! I wish he could whip one up for me, too. :o) ha, ha. I vote for painting it like hooker. If you get the doors faux finished with the brown on the doors, that will pull in your leather sectional. And the black really doesn't look like a black hole IRL. Your photoshopped hooker piece isn't doing it justice. Seriously jaw-dropping in person. So I vote for the black. I do see you are thinking espresso, and that would look good. But if you don't FLIP over the espresso, please consider the black rub. Have your painter do a few colors dry brushed onto the black. I think you'll love it!! :o)...See MoreNeed help with heat ventilation in TV component closet
Comments (43)So, are you finished? I just saw your original post and, looking at your pictures, I think you should put the components in the open cabinets on the left and right of the TV. I like the idea of racks, and I guess that's what you are now using. Regarding heat, I disagree with Fusion as to where to place the heat-producing components. People frequently put them at the bottom back in the days when those components were very heavy (read analog tube-based amps). Since heat rises, I would put them at the top! And, of course, if they have any controls you have to reach, make them reachable. What's behind your console? If it is a hallway or closet, could you break into the back to give easy access to cabling? If you are anything like me, I am always changing things....See MoreLiving room suggestions - TV placement, couch/chair style/layout?
Comments (8)Their current lay out block traffic flow. I would much rather go with a love seat and a few comfy chairs. How many in your family. That is how many seats you need. The rest is over kill and does anyone actually FILL a huge sectional or do three people use it? I am just not a fan. As for the TV placement, most want a visual of both the fireplace and the TV so your plan seems to be a decent option. The built in would be worth looking at...It is ironic how often the MOSTLY unused fireplaces everyone desires really messes with furniture arranging. Your new floors are to die for. This gray fad confuses me. Gray is cold, like stainless. Your kitchen and flooring are so warm and rich looking. Half your new space is painted warm the other cool... Which colors will you embrace?...See MoreRelated Professionals
