Found THE Wood (Porcelain Plank)
Comments (7)Thanks for all the comments and advice. It's all very appreciated. We're picking up the tile tomorrow (provided Shaw doesn't drop the ball). At this point, I honestly don't know what grout width we'll use. My husband has never let us down in all our remodel endeavors (altho he is his own worst critic) but this bathroom has been a challenge for him having never done a shower area before. He's installed LOTS of tile (installing carpet and wood is his profession) but this will be the first of this size and shape. Our floor is a concrete slab. He'll do any necessary floor prep and work with it (tile) to determine how close he can safely space them. He knows I want as small a joint as possible but won't compromise the installation. We're thinking about 3/32". But again, he'll figure out what he can do. I just can't do 1/8 :( I'm not sure now if the tile is really rectified. The saleslady said it was. I would think that would be a selling point but it's not listed anywhere in the Shaw website as rectified. Shaw said the Phoenix line is rectified but again, it's not listed under the specs....See MoreWhich wood plank porcelain tile do you like?
Comments (42)I've seen #1 in person and quite liked it. I would never purchase flooring without first being able to see it in person and also in the space. I don't live in the same state as the home so I am doing everything remotely until I get there. I have also been in touch with a local flooring company. This isn't a rush decision, I'm just starting and putting together ideas. I appreciate everyone's advice....See MoreWhich direction should I run wood plank porcelain tiles?
Comments (0)I’m installing wood plank porcelain tiles 6x24. Which direction should I run the tiles? Should I run it vertical or horizontal as soon as I walk in from the main entry way? Right now I’m thinking of running it Vertical longways from front to back. I shot a video of the house, the floor is bare right now. https://youtu.be/oRStitu8zJ8 There’s a house, exactly the same model nearby that i saw online and they had their wood look tiles running horizontally. I’ll attach pictures. Comments (3)@Angel You are certainly entitled to your own preference, but we are going to be using some marble look-alike tile from Porcelanosa called Thassos next to our dark brown engineered wood flooring for a contrast from the kitchen to living areas, and we are pleased with the contrast. They are two completely different materials, so the transition seems to work. We are using natural wood cabinetry, though, so I can see your wanting some contrast with the kitchen if you are doing a white scheme. Keep in mind that the white trend for cabinetry is past its peak. If you'll review current interior publications and reports from the annual KBIS show where trends are forecast and displayed, you'll see that kitchen design for the past couple of years has been moving toward natural wood looks and more rich and moody colorations. White is certainly still considered a classic, just not at the forefront of trends anymore....See Morevannerpham
