Why am I the only one that cant figure out how to post a picture?
Comments (28)Did you get message rejected when you started a new thread? Did you have a title in the subject line? I've never had a message rejected because my photo coding was wrong. It happens to me for 3 reasons: 1. when you reply to a thread too soon after posting a comment. Go back to your message and type something different in the subject line, hit preview, then hit submit. 2. when you didn't type anything in the subject line. Go back and type something in the subject line, hit preview, then hit submit. 3. when you put something in the "Optional Link URL" box but didn't type anything in the "name of the Link" box. Go back, type something in the box, hit preview, then submit. You are NOT posting your pic in the "Optional Link URL" box. You should be pasting it into the "Mesage" box along with your typed words....See MoreFiguring out Daltile whites
Comments (50)Thanks! The shower is natural gray and the kitchen is oyster gray. They did the shower first...I like it but thought I'd want it more muted in the kitchen. I notice more imperfections in the shower, but not sure much is the grout's fault, since in the shower my face is much closer to the tile and the grout looks even darker than wet. I feel like people often recommend delorean gray, which would be nice too, I just thought I'd like a bit more contrast....See Morefiguring out designer's fees; need to resolve
Comments (13)Meg, imo, you really need to move away from this designer. If nothing else, this is causing you a great deal of increased stress. That takes a lot of your time and energy, too. I'd just finish up whatever is hanging and not involve her in other issues. While moving on, you may stumble upon someone else better suited to help you with things. Where you just click. As far as charges, I think it's ridiculous to charge for general contacts. Design help in emails, I think, is another story. And the per email thing is a racket. Fixing problems -- well, there are always problems to be resolved and the world just doesn't turn perfectly or as expected. That's part of a designer's job and expertise for sale -- to get it done and know how to handle the problems. So, depending, one can't put it all on the designer (to be perfect, have a crystal ball, and to have everyone else be perfect too). That's just a scapegoat for hire and unfair, imo. Now if it's just negligence and carelessness at your expense, that's another story, too. Gee, did you just send her to LA and Mehico??? Not a bad deal....See MoreNeed advice on paint color, but need to figure out sun exposure first!
Comments (18)I’m curious, though: if picking the right color based on window or light orientation isn’t a sound strategy, why are there so many articles about it? Because it's lucrative. It depends on what you mean by "articles". There are scientific studies and white papers about azimuth, fenestration, cardinal and intermediate geographical directions and how daylight propagates through interior spaces. Also, lots of good stuff about how the eye adapts to light and dark illuminantion. If you're talking about posts on blogs, most of them are garbage. It's a lot of baseless, subjective opinion presented as expertise. Bloggers know they can make up whatever they want about color and no one is going to call them out on the bulls@t they publish - because there aren't that many legit color experts reading the crap they publish to call them out - or care. Most people have not one fat clue how color works but are intrigued, fascinated, sometimes romanced by color. Which makes it a hot topic and how color responds to NSEW light is Google keywords rich. So, whatever "systems" and "rules" bloggers want to make up, and sometimes slap a price tag on, innocent people who don't know any better are willing to gobble it up and adopt their color point of view as if it were gospel without question or vetting. Blogosphere is at best reductive when it comes to how color works and it's the last place anyone should look for information. The damage it's done to color literacy is actually quite sad....See More- 8 years ago
