Need advice for building cabinet for stacked compact laundry

Shell King

We are building a cabinet to hold a new compact stacked washer and dryer and I could use some advice or ideas. The old washer and dryer didn't fit in the closets, so the door was removed. Now we have removed the front wall in order to gain a couple inches of depth. We are planning to custom build cabinets to hold a new stacked compact washer, and dryer, as well as the electric water heater. We want cabinet space above them too.

Anyone have advice about the current overhead switched light? remove? somehow incorporate a light into the cabinet? There is an overhead light in the hallway already, but a second light aimed towards the laundry would be good. Any other ideas for this set up? The new dryer will be ventless as this closet is not near an exterior wall. Here are photos "before" and 2 after the demo. And lastly a photo similar to what I'm picturing.
