FYI, I'm in Zone 5 in Michigan, and MGs reseed quite readily for me. My MIL lives less than an hour from Buffalo, and our temps are usually quite similar, so I would think MGs would reseed there as well. However, IMO MGs aren't that big a deal if they reseed and you don't want them -- just pull them out or mow them down and they won't get a chance to grow and set seed the next year.

This is a follow up. The moonflower vines that I wrote about back in June have grown like crazy! They topped the five foot deck, grew all over the end of the deck, I was gone for three weeks and they covered my deck swing to the point that I had to prune them back. They are lush, thick, growing like crazy and not a single bud or blossom in sight. When will they bloom???? The two other vines in other locations, grew a bit and have been blooming all summer. Does anyone have any ideas as to why I am getting all vine and no blooms? Can I fix it? Thanks, Murphy

Jen, yeah I used to grow vines like that, but now I keep them apart. It's eaiser to pick the seeds, and they seem to produce flowers and pods better. Right now I have a MG with varigated leaves called "Love is Blue" My oh my, what a looker! Also one of my favorites is Heartseed vine. So delicate and pretty, and the little balloons with the hearts on the seeds seem so special. :) Arum

Karen these beans stay good for YEARS. I can't imagine EVER planting them and them not coing up. Aside from MG"s this is my favorite vine. Yes, just cut of branchs of beans, and hange them inside. Make sure the beans are wel formed inside. Also, do yu have the white. It is fragrant, but not quite as showy as the purple. I ahve one tht has pods that are white, with a purple line. Love the Hyacinth Bean Vine! :) Arum
