Well ---- if you don't want MG's next year, don't plant em, they are pretty resilent. I hope that word means what I think it does. :) Hyacinth Bean vine is great, good coverage, beautiful, won't come up next year unless you plant it. Every once in a while a bean may come up, but it's sure not something you can count on. They have'ft to have sun. :) arum

I planted purple hyacinth bean vine with my moonflower vine this year. I wanted to have blooms during the day as well as at night.

How much sun does the bean need? And how many did you plant together? I want full coverage, but I don't want to crowd the plants....

FYI, I'm in Zone 5 in Michigan, and MGs reseed quite readily for me. My MIL lives less than an hour from Buffalo, and our temps are usually quite similar, so I would think MGs would reseed there as well.

However, IMO MGs aren't that big a deal if they reseed and you don't want them -- just pull them out or mow them down and they won't get a chance to grow and set seed the next year.

sippy, the problem is that you may plant many, but only a few come up, and sometimes you have a bunch come up together and then in other places you have bald spots. I just plant a whole bunch, and if to many come up you can always pull them out later. :) Arum
