Help with living room furniture layout and decor, please!
Comments (4)Well...at 17'X 14' you don't have much room for built-in like this on a side wall. They will take approximately 2' in depth, plus another 6" minimum for a window jamb. It doesn't look like your floor plan incorporates a 2'-6" jamb on either wall, so some change will be needed to the builder's plan to make this possible. Be sure to check and verify your furniture layout will fit the available space after the built-in. Good luck!...See MoreOpen floor plan design/layout help! Townhome
Comments (5)Would choose an oval dining table -- rounded corners. You might also consider one with "leaves" that can be added and removed from the center of the table so you don't have a table filling your up so much of your dining space unless and until you need it for a lot of guests. Would forego any knee-knocker coffee table -- might choose a storage ottoman with a reversible top that could double as a table as needed. Sectionals limit furniture placement options and even one obvious tear or bit of damage or really bad stain that you cannot remove can result in your losing a lot of your seating to get rid of it. Also, to help with furniture placement in the living room, you might want a half wall -- such as a peninsula -- beside the refrigerator, one long/short enough to leave a 4' wide opening between the living room and dining room. Then use a smaller island -- or kitchen island cart. You could even build your peninsula with its (base) cabinets accessible from either -- with no knobs or pulls on the living room side -- or build the living room side as a bookcase between two cabinet doors....See Moreplease help with the furniture layout before we buy new furniture
Comments (5)The sectional looks better than others. I advise you to make it like this. Moreover, for your room, you can take vintage furniture. It will make your room richer. When I moved to my new house a year ago, I noticed that something was not reaching the living room. After a time, I decided to change the furniture and I opted for a vintage one. After changes, the living room looks better, more colorful and this type of furniture gives unusual magic to the room. Comments (40)Kristine, have you considered using an articulating wall mount for the flat screen TV? DH loves his TV. I love the flexibility. It changes the situation from the TV being in charge to you being in charge. You position the TV to where you wish to sit and view. It is a given that DH will have this TV in this room. It would be a shame to design your wonderful and useful space around an appliance. Enjoy your fireplace and celebrate your high ceiling and lovely windows. Work around them, maybe you don't need to fill the space as much as you think. The space is the beauty of this room. Keep the couch and don't have so many lamps and chairs cluttering this space. I also think that a spectacular rug would anchor the picture. The 7 Best TV Wall Mounts of 2021: Secure Your Flat Screen in Style! (lifewire.com)...See Morekatinparadise
