Has anyone experienced a Kohler Prolific sink?
Comments (32)@Lara, The sink is pretty deep, so that is another thing taking away from storage space under the sink. You could figure out a way to put 2 bins under the sink, but a 3rd might be difficult. My SO really didn't want any pull outs under the sink. Hopefully he won't have to do any work there, but he wants it easy to get in there if necessary! I didn't really want garbage there either because I like having it next to the sink not under it. I don't want to have to move to open the garbage when I'm at the sink. We really only have the RO system under the sink and the bowl/colander from the sink in the cabinet. Is there anywhere else in your plan where you might put the waste/recycling? If you really need your trash in the sink cabinet, the Prolific might not be the best choice. It is probably do-able, but maybe not ideal....See MoreLove it or Regrets? Kohler Prolific Sink
Comments (5)Hi Mkuyekawa! Hahaha! I know exactly what you mean about agonising over every decision on a kitchen remodel!! I'm doing a whole house, top to bottom remodel; it has barely commenced, and the real work won't start until late June, but I'm already driving myself crazy with every decision, big or tiny, and the kitchen is the worst! In my financial situation, plus my age, 55, I have to get this right the first time. I can't afford any do-overs, and whatever I do has to last for the rest of my life, which I hope will be a long, long time! :-) I think it would be hard to go wrong with just about any #Kohler sink. But the Prolific looks amazing. It looks like it's $824 and change just about anywhere, including Home Depot, Lowe's, and Amazon. You can get financing from Amazon, and it ships free, if those are things you're looking for. You get close to an extra inch of depth with the 10" depth, which I think is kinda neat. The five accessories all seem to be very high quality, which you would expect from Kohler. I like the bamboo cutting board because bamboo is highly sustainable (bamboo grows super fast, so you're not waiting around for 100 years for another big tree to grow). One commenter worried about where to store the accessories, but there are ledges and things where you store them right in the sink, and it looks really organised and professional! One thing to remember is that there are no holes for faucets, so make sure you allow for space behind the sink for whatever faucets you choose to have. Although it's an undermount sink, Kohler has made it so you can install it as a drop in, if you prefer. Between that and the reroute get of a little plumbing if your current sink has faucet hole, I'd strongly recommend a professional plumber for installation unless you're a pretty advanced DIYer. The sink is 8 gauge stainless steel. I personally prefer stainless because it really will last a lifetime. Despite claims to the contrary, I've yet to see the white enamel that won't chip if you drop the wrong thing in it at a good height. Some people don't like the look of stainless because they think it looks "industrial," but I disagree. Stainless has made a comeback because of its durability, and it's once again "very modern," and looks great in a remodelled kitchen! Also, Kohler has put some kind of material in it that professional kitchens use to dampen the sound because a stainless sink can be a bit noises with a lots of dishes clinking around. Seems they've thought of everything. It's the versatility that sells the Prolific. You can be chopping vegetables, draining pieces down the wide drain, soaking something in the basin, rinsing something in the colander--all at the same time! According to reviews on Amazon, people are saying they gain 1-2' of counter space by multitasking with this sink. The sink got rave reviews on Amazon, which is usually a pretty good indicator. Another neat little feature is that they have a series of ledges so you can put your cutting board and other items at the height that is most comfortable for you! The price of $824 seems like a lot for a sink--until you start comparing various sinks, their functionality, and their aesthetic value. Plus, factoring in that it really will last a lifetime if properly cared for, it's really a fairly reasonable price. But don't forget to factor in professional installation, faucets, a new disposal, and any other new gadgets you want with your new workstation. I hope this helps! :-)...See MoreKohler Prolific sink vs. having space for trash pullout

Comments (26)Scherrs stained and finished the doors for us. I really wanted a 'factory' applied finish. I requested samples of two different stains with a satin finish coat. They had the two colors I chose on hand, so it was easy for them to make up the samples for me. Had I chosen stain colors not in stock, Scherrs would have charged me to buy the stain. The staining and finishing doubled the cost of our order and added about 4 weeks to the time frame. It was definitely worth it to me in the end to have a professional finish. At all points in the process, the folks at Scherrs were professional and a pleasure to work with....See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
