Sheetrock hole 1' off
Comments (8)"I would take dwall guy's advise except i would use seam tape. Perforated paper, not mesh." Paper tape and setting compound is a bad combination. Setting compound can easily be mixed thick enough to fill even decent size gaps with no support (and really large gaps if it has solid support). Setting compound does not harden by drying out (it hardens by chemical reaction) so it does not shrink like pre-mixed mud (unless you add a lot of water when mixing the setting)....See MoreSheetrock Causing Problem with Door Trim
Comments (5)Thanks for the replies. The older framing is 3 1/2". I checked the jamb with a level and it is plumb. The wall is off a little, which is causing the problem. I have about 10 other interior doors installed and they're all OK. This is the only one that is a problem. This door was installed at least 6 months ago and the other side of the door is fine and was trimmed already by a contractor. They never did the other side that I'm looking at. I'm not in a position right now to rip the door out and redo everything. What about my thought above about cutting out the sheetrock and shimming the trim directly to the stud, essentially replacing the sheetrock with the trim? If I rip out the sheetrock maybe I'll find something obvious like a couple of nails sticking out. If not, I can do what I mentioned above. Any reason not to do this?...See MoreKitchen Update - Lighting in (mostly) and Beams review
Comments (30)Hey Brickton and wife :o)...it looks amazing! I am new to GW kitchens and I don't know what the "before" looked like, but you all have done a great job. I love how you have both done so much of it on your own! I am going to let my husband see the pics and your explanation of install...we are building a home and we have put in three 20' hewn barn beams across the vaulted ceiling in our great room (the real ones)...darn it! I wish I knew about your connection about a month ago..:o) I will wax them once the sheetrock is hung, etc. They will look very similar to yours. Did you all follow the directions to leave it on for 15 minutes before wiping off? Just curious. Keep posting pictures so we can see your progress...btw, I like the make-shift light.....See MoreShower concerns...newly installed by contractor subs. This 3/4" gap
Comments (27)Cinar interiors, inc.-roarah? we laid a 4 ft straight edge and it's not perfectly flat against the tile. I'm sure that something to do w/all of this. The gap was definitely wider at the top than at the bottom. I don't know what it ideal but I have learned much going through this process. Walls are imperfect, framing can be imperfect, rounded corners can complicate things. Hopefully the glass door will/can be installed well!...See MoreDavid Cary
