unexpected re-blooming in September
Comments (15)I've been extolling the virtues of 'Roma' for a number of years, and yes I've had any number of Astrantias, mostly darker ones such as 'Ruby Wedding' over the years and only 'Roma' has bloomed all season. As I mentioned 'Venus' is reblooming but is very sparse by comparison. 'Roma' is such an subtle plant that people tend to walk right on by it. For example I had it fronted by 'Heart Attack', blooming at the same time and nobody saw the Astrantia until I pointed it out. Everyone was agog about the Dianthus and I was over in the 'Roma' corner going "Hey what about me"?...See MoreAugust Reblooms and the Late Late Show
Comments (8)Lillian is a lovely pink. There are so many pretty pinks rather similar, I don't think I have any light pink like it. And I really like the look. I take it back, I have Ed Brown. The blooms always look good, but it doesn't bloom that long & it hasn't multiplied much at all since I've had it. Wonder of it All seems to do so well for everyone, & a beautiful daylily, I've always admired it. And Jay Farquar, AND We are the Champions. And....well, you can tell I don't have many blooms left, I love every one of them. If I pick an absolute favorite though, would have to be Spacecoast Francil Busby....See MoreSeptember 2 reblooms
Comments (10)Edward- I didn't do as many actuall budcounts as I did last year but did make note of any that were usual. As in unusually good or unusually bad. Andrea- I hate spiders. I know lots of people like them but they are not for me. FLAMBOYANT PROMISE is in no way a spider. I really don't know what the registration criteria for UFOs are but I call ones that look like this UFOs and I love it. The bloom is big and very attention getting on a fairly tall scape. Its a late bloomer and the rebloom scape was a nice bonus....See MoreSeptember rebloom amps up
Comments (8)Nancy, Christmas Greeting has never rebloomed for me either but a lot of these have not!! Again, the power of water, I think! Debra, I see where you have mentioned on some of your posts about the extra water as well-you have had good rebloom as well! Sherry, it is nice to have blooms and I can appreciate them more in smaller quantities! Brad, Chesapeake Crablegs is the one out of all the blooms that did not look better or bigger on rebloom. Oh Celeste, would that I could send rain to you! We were not in drought but in a long time without rain after season was over. Without the tropical storms and hurricanes I would not have rain now either....See Moresamhain10 - 5a
