Congrats again!! Is Brody staying in the "nursery" or moving to a new room? With Olivia we always had a twin bed in her room near the crib. One day DH put her to bed and came downstairs and said, By the way, she is sleeping in the twin bed tonight. She just picked it one day. She was maybe 2 1/2? We used the crib to store stuffed toys and blankets for a while. I thought maybe she'd realize it's off-limits for sleeping? Then we made a big deal about 4 months before Katie was born that she got a whole new room and bed and she helped pick out colors/bedspread etc. We downplayed the nursery and focused on her big girl bed. I think we did the side rails for a while, but eventually just put some pillows on the floor in case. By chance, if he has any problems with moving, we have a bassinet that I could loan you for the baby to sleep in your room/another room for a little while? When the Katie was born we gave Olivia a present from the baby. She still talks about that and how happy she was!

Sueb20: I agree with Denali. We purchased a Savvyrest natural (not synthetic) latex bed about two years ago. It is a very well made bed and is wonderful sleeping. Ours is a king, and has one heavy zippered outer case that holds three twin mattresses for each side/person. You choose which level of firmness each piece is and layer them however you choose. Once it is all put together, you would never know that it had more than one piece inside-the foam just fits together perfectly.You could get it up your stairs as each piece is twin size and comes tightly rolled. And like Denali said, Savvyrest's shredded latex pillows are great. (I have no affiliation with this company.) Edited to add: they do have platform bed frames as well as other frames. I do not have a low platform bed; it's a tall steel frame and the space under the bed is about 18 inches, but there is also no box spring. The mattress is a Select Comfort/Sleep Number mattress on top of plywood, which covers the slats of the bed frame. This really works for for DH and I, as DH does not like to "climb up" out of bed, the way one does when sleeping low to the floor, and I get the airy "empty space" style, instead of the visual clutter and heaviness of an unnecessary box spring. (I really love low beds, and would have one if it was just me, but I gotta admit it is nice to slide out of bed basically into a standing position :-D

After I re-measured and found out that the mattress was actually 79" L and didn't see any point in contacting Sealy. The guy from MF was very nice and sympathetic and offered to replace it, but said the new one would likely be the same. He did give me a body pillow, that sort of works. So, it turns out that it's not ideal but I've found two, maybe three solutions. 1) Split the difference and leave 2" on each end (I'll try this when I change the sheets, 2) find a cover for the body pillow. Not very smooth looking, and it looks like I'll have to periodically punch it down, but it does prevent the pillows from falling into the abyss, and 3) cut the 4" wide foam rubber that I bought to make a 60" x 11" x 4" block that I'll have to find a way to cover. It'll have a smooth top, won't budge (see photo above). When I find my new quilt and the bed is made, no one will know and I'll be able to prop up pillows to read in bed without slipping into the bed crack! P.S. It's still a mystery why a 79" mattress placed on an 80" bed leaves such a wide gap. I guess there a some things we are just not meant to understand.
