Egyptian cotton shirts?

My BF has mentioned several times that he loves Egyptian cotton shirts but he hasn't seen them available in many years. I search on-line every now and then but have only found dress shirts. Does anyone know where I might find men's casual long-sleeve button-down collar Egyptian cotton shirts?

BeanDip, I use a simple kitchen strainer, cut a piece of window screen to fit inside the strainer, then lay a balled up paint strainer bag on top of the screens and let the compost tea filter through that. So far I have not had any sprayer clog using that method. I trust this helps in some way... Blutranes

removing 'grease' spots on cotton shirts

My husband's dark blue and black polo shirts always seem to get these grease spots too. Right in front! Very ugly. Sometimes I don't notice them until after I have washed his shirts and dried them in the dryer which can set the stains. I successfully removed them using a bar of lye soap and oxy clean spray spot remover. I really rub the spots hard after I apply the lye soap and the oxy clean spray and I let it set for a while before I launder them again. I also follow this by hanging the shirts to dry (in case I have to repeat the treatment). (I haven't noticed any fumes from mixing the lye soap and oxy clean spray, by the way.) Seems to do the trick every time. You do have to be careful with oxyclean since it may cause your fabric to fade a bit, but I've never really had a problem with it. I am fortunate enough to still have a piece of my dear Grandmother's homemade lye soap, but you can get it from www.lehmans.com. Lehmans serves the Amish and Mennonite communities in Ohio. Good luck!

Weird spots showing up on my cotton T Shirts after washing--HELP!

I'm going to repeat my post from two years ago, because nothing has changed, and my solution is still working. If you find spots only on the front of your solid-color t-shirts after washing them, this will take care of them. It's a pain, but pre-treating them faithfully with Stain Stick--I now have to order it from Amazon, as WalMart and Kroger stores have quit carrying it--but it relieves the frustration of finding spots on freshly washed clothes. Spots only occur on the fronts of our t-shirts, never the backs or sides, so I think it has to do with getting grease on the front either from cooking or eating. Have you ever seen the spot a tiny crumb of potato or corn chip leaves on a brown paper sack overnight? My solution: pre-treat all visible spots with Stain Stick. Works most of the time, and seems to always work the second time around if there is a spot or two after the first wash. It's a pain, but compared to the trouble of making my own detergent, I'll continue doing it. I tried using spray pre-treatments, but once you spray you can't tell what spots are from the spray and which need to be treated. I have a top-loader and use Costco Free and Clear, but have tried Tide and other detergents, as well. Makes no difference. I use a dryer and fabric softener sheets. I tried no sheets and different brands--no difference. I typically pour the detergent down into the bottom of the tub so it goes into the area below the tub with the holes it, but don't wait to put clothes in until the bottom is covered with water, so it's possible some of the unmixed detergent is getting on the clothes. But as I started off with, if the spots were being caused by the detergent, they wouldn't be just on the fronts of the shirts.

As someone who works in the clothing world: you get what you pay for in this case. "100%" cotton shirts can be lovely...or dreadful. The longer the cotton fiber, the less it wrinkles and the better it lasts. Longer cotton fibers are often from Egypt.. American cotton is the stuff that packs the top of aspirin bottles. You can buy whatever you want,, but this may be the case of "poor can't afford to buy cheap." Find a good dry cleaner who will launder and press your shirts well. Most places will offer a choice of getting them back on a hanger or folded.

Not Egyptian cotton but some nice wrinkle free (somewhat) linen and cotton linen blends.

My husband is around 6'2 or 3 regular size large but buys XL slim. If you read the reviews many size up. Anyway, your BF could hit the sale to see what he thinks. If you sign up before you put things in the cart you get an additional 20% off.

Party - it never ceases to amaze me how much detail you can put in a search. I think the key is to put "egyptian cotton" in quotes so you don't get just any cotton.

Well, I had him do that search and start following the links... after searching a while he said he came up with only one 100% Egyptian cotton shirt available in his size (M) that was button-down and he doesn't like the available color (red/black check). pfffffttttt. I'll show him the Untuckit shirts from Italy and I'll continue to look to see if I can stumble onto the right thing....

Mtn, the search indicates that, but when you look closer you'll see that only two of those are button-down and both are out-of-stock in M.
