Help! what is the best white wall and trim color??

We are trying to pick a great wall color for our new house! I need a white color because the ceilings are textured and very hard to make a straight line where ceiling meets walls, white won't show as much! Also, white trim for doors and windows. I would love some advice on great "white" colors that work well in most rooms. A go-to white that is used by professional designers~ Thank you!

Yowza. I had a long, angst filled dilemma about exactly that.

I would suggest you consider (all Ben Moore) Cloud White as a slightly warmer great overall white. Simply White as a slightly whiter but also good allrounder. Oxford White for a slightly cooler option. All very popular with designers (as are a BAZILLION others!!)

Hey thanks for responding! I guess I’m also concerned about a pure white colored trim making the AW look more yellow. Was thinking about trying something in between the AW and pure white window. Anyone ever use Snowbound? It’s a little whiter than AW.

In my last house, I used BM Cloud White throughout for trim and wainscoting. There was a lot of woodwork, and the color worked well with all of the various room colors. Not too stark, not yellow. I actually chose it to match the existing trim paint which was in good condition but had aged and mellowed a bit.

The first thing I would do is get a counter depth fridge in that small space and since the space is tiny I think the same as the walls could be a good idea. I certainly would not have done black appliances and with the new cabinet color they will even be more of an issue so think a lot about this change.

BM Navaho white with white dove trim is a classic, we love ours

The correct white would be what works with your furnishings. If you have very earthy finished a stark white will look wrong. There’s blue white, true white, off-white, cream. All can read ’white’ but depends on everything else in the room. Do you have photos you can share? What is your flooring? Whats your kitchen look like? Do you have white cabinets? Stained? bm cloud white is an off white that you could use for trim and door if you had to pick something And we’re trying to play safe. Most people can’t pull off white walls though. A lot of times looks like they forgot to paint. Pose some photos and people will be able to better help.

Go digging around Maria Killam‘s blog and do some reading up on whites. I’m not affiliated. There’s a lot of good info there.

It does depend on the light in your location and the exposure of your room. I found this blog post helpful deciding on which white for the ceilings and trim for our new house,
