Have you ever been so sick you thought you're going to die?
Comments (56)Well what a great report from you, pitimpinai!! The last I heard you were still very low in energy and still on a ton of medication and little appetite, and listen to you, helping the neighbor till up a lawn! LOL What a nice neighbor you were to plant tomatoes and Dahlias. :-) I am happy to hear that you've also benefited from a shorter work day. Great that you had all that time off saved up. I bet you really needed it to get your energy back. We have gotten pretty much back to what is normal for us here. The weather has been stupendous in the past month! I have never seen the cover crop in the veggie beds so high. We've also gotten all the leaves mowed and collected in bins, ours and three neighbors. [g] We have gotten somewhat cleaned up for the year in the garden, but I keep adding to my list of what I want to get done before the weather turns. Still have a small amount of bulbs to plant and three shrubs to get in the ground, some pots to clean and put away and that will just about do it. I am actually looking forward to a break from the garden. Not that we don't get outside and enjoy it, but it's nice this time of year, to focus on other things. During the gardening season, the garden seems to push out other priorities. [g] I enjoy the winter garden and by the time spring comes, I am just itching to get back to a new growing season. Glad you are able to enjoy gardening again and hope you stay well this winter! :-)...See MoreHave you ever been on TV?
Comments (26)My extended family members were extras in "Invasion USA". I got sick because they made the kids dressing winter clothes in Atlanta in the summer! In the movie, you can see my dad and brother standing beside the school bus when it is being loaded. My cousin and her mom are running in front of the buss (I was in the sick bay, quite dehydrated!). The film company got fined and kicked out of GA for several years for violation of child labor laws because they did/wouldn't give us fluids. Oh, and some stupid mother brought her daughter so she could be "discovered"- all that happened was this kids gave all the other kids a summer dose of chickenpox!!!!...See MoreHave you ever been a recipient of...
Comments (16)This wasn't exactly random but a few months ago I witnessed a car hit a brand new car in the parking lot outside my work, and the guys just parked and walked away. He hit it really hard so he obviously knew he had done it. I walked up to the new car and it had huge scratches on it. So I left a note for the owner with my info saying I had witnessed it, and I took a bunch of pics of her car (and his car) on my cell phone. The woman called me when she got back to her car and I got her email and forwarded her all the pictures and a statement of what I witnessed. Her insurance company called me the next day and I forwarded it all to them also. Anyway, I forgot all about it and a few weeks later the lady showed up at my work with a card and a box of fancy chocolates for me! She had gone into the few businesses around our block to figure out where I worked. She asked all about my work (a non-profit that houses homeless people) and she took my card and said she would also make a donation! She was so sweet and appreciate about the small kindness I had done her! It comes back to you exponentially!...See MoreHave you ever been a secret santa?
Comments (24)For the past 2 years our Gold Wing chapter has given me 2 or 3 hundred dollars to use for the Salvation Army Elder Tree. I don't pull names I contact the lady in charge of it instead. She calls me after everyone has turned in their gifts for the folks that they picked. Then we go out and get things that weren't included and also fillers for all the people. My girlfriend and I can really shop. We end up filling the trunk of my Lincoln to the brim. If we run short of funds from our GW chapter we put in from our own pockets to get other things that we know they would like. Most of the people on the Elder Tree are from the nursing homes and low income apartments. My friend works for the county going into peoples homes to give baths, cook meals, shop for their groceries and other things that they need. She always gets so tickled when they excitedly show her what Santa brought. We are pleased that they are happy with what we have shopped for. It is sad when we read what these people put on their wish lists...stamps, stationery, paper towels, toilet paper, snacks. Sometimes they ask for pj's, slippers or sweaters. I called Carolyn the other day and am just waiting for the call to shop. It sure does put you in the spirit of Christmas....See Morelucillle
