Help with designing/arranging/decorating living room
The attached images show the current state of my living room. Could you please drop in your ideas or suggestions on how I can make this space look better/cohesive, make it more functional etc?
In short, what would you do to make this space work?

5 years agoThe room is looking a bit bare....curtains floor to ceiling and roman woven wood blind in the window are a possibility or just beefing up the wood trim around the window as is to give it more presence.
A pair of end tables and lamps on either end of the sofa.
Another chair in an accent color, maybe a pattern, to the right of the fireplace.
Tree in the corner art work in the room.
Here is an inspiration room......lamps to balance the TV, round objects in room to soften the square areas, art work on the wall, end tables that match each other but not the cocktail table, lamps on either end of sofa.....if not using curtains at window then finishing the windows out with wide molding to add interest, a paint that contrasts with the furnishing a bit, chair in pattern on a diagonal to sofa adds interest, fills the room, helps to balance the furniture arrangement.....a room takes a lot of stuff and the sofa and chairs you have are a great start. You just need to plan the rest of the room, and shop and fill in where needed.

Comments (12)You have two posting for the same room. Can you delete the one with 2 responses? Lower tv after you purchase a console that is wider than the tv. Remove all the little things filling spaces; little glass table by tv, don't put anything on tv cabinet, remove mirror above couch and replace with art, remove the wicket baskets, the book shelf and candle/lamps on bar. You don't need to fill every spot, you need some "free of stuff" space. Remove pictures behind the lamps, no need for anything there except the lamps. At least get a small round table and forget the bar stools so no one has to look at the kitchen while eating, more pleasant to look at the person you are eating with. It appears as if you have spare chairs to put at the table. No chairs lined on the wall in front of the window, maybe a low bench if needed for seating. You do have to much fur. I love your couch, end tables, lamps and rug. Pick a one or two colors from you rug and see what you find art wise as well as a few pillows. Possibly a tall plant in corner by bar. It appears you have some gray already, the gray appears to go well with the rug and couch. Comments (7)Gallery wall! You have all the items you need in the last picture, right of the tv. Put it on the floor in brown paper first to see how it will look. Put the tall scroll item on the left, the R item top right, and the small framed pieces below it. Make sure no more than a few inches are between the items. Have the whole gallery at eye level when sitting. I'd like to see some color, but that's me. 5 years agoI think it looks really nice! I like some of the other suggestions - remove the bolster pillows from the sofa, add curtains, move the tree - maybe to the empty corner on the fireplace wall. ditch the beige dining chair & split the blue chairs so they're across from each other. If you can get a round end-table matching the one you have, that would be great. The knickknacks scattered around - maybe get a nice a tray to hold everything and style it up with a plant, books, candles, etc.
