I have been told by 4 different KD that a 42 inch corner sink base will hold a regular double bowl sink of 32 inches total width. The cabinet face will depend on if you have frameless or framed cabinets, but in the KM line I am using the bas of 32 inches has a face on the door of approx 22 inches. I believe it was LWO who stated on the forum that she recommends a 48 inch base cabinet for most corner sinks. Personally I don't have that much room. I am using a 42 inch base cabinet and will use a double bowl 1 3/4 bowl sink with a sink exterior measurement of 31.5 inches. It will sit back 3.5 inches from the front of the cabinet. Do a search of corner sinks both here and in the FKB and you will see several different bases with different size sinks.

Measure both the interior & exterior sizes and compare the interior size to the sinks exterior size. Your sink basin(s) will need to fit within the sink base's interior. The rim will sit on the cabinet walls. When I was shopping for a sink, my KD told me the sink should be no wider than the cabinet (exterior) width - 1/2" We also have a Ticor sink. It's the S405D. It's exterior width is 35-1/8" and we have it in a 36" sink base. Think about where your faucet and other fittings will be (soap/soap dispenser, airswitch, instant hot water and/or cold filtered water). Be sure you have enough room behind the sink you pick for everything you're planning on. (Note that faucets can be single-hole, 2-hole, or 3-hole) Be sure you can turn your faucet on & off when it's installed...the handle should have room to move freely to both turn it on/off and to adjust the temperature. The faucet style is really dependent on your kitchen style...modern, transitional, vintage, traditional, etc. In our case, our kitchen is Transitional w/leanings toward traditional and the Kohler Vinnata I picked goes very well. If you like modern, check out the Kohler Simplice. I seem to recall quite a few people here have it and really like it. I found the best price for my faucet at FaucetDirect.com. You probably would've emailed if you wanted my opinion, but here it is anyway: - Won't it reduce the usefulness of the island to move the prep sink? (It'd be different if you had a small island that would be usurped by the sink and leave you no room to work.) - Where do you want to stand and which way do you want to face to prep? (You've said you don't like the view out your window.) - You'd have less prep area around the sink if it's in the area next to the stove. You don't want a set up in which you have to put things in the sink, move them across the aisle to the island to prep, then move them back across the aisle to the stove. - I also think the sink can serve more purposes in the island than if it's by the stove. Obviously, I'm voting for leaving it in the island. ;-) Uses for the counter to the left of the stove: Area for canisters, the cookie jar, or decorative items. Set completed dishes off in that direction, or do plating there. Use it for cooling baked goods where they'll be mostly out of the way.

Yes, I will have the standard 1 and half inch overhang and I will use a standard one hole faucet in the center. I understand there's a half inch difference in the counters but my question is- should that half inch make it completely out of the question or should we find a way to make it work as is? That's why I was curious as to what everyone else's measurements were. These counter tops will be our only counter tops for a long long time, so I'm really worried about installing the 16 inch sink they're wanting- It's just so small and I'm so worried I'll absolutely hate it. I've never loved the idea of a stainless steal apron front either but if we went that direction, how are they usually mounted? Would we need to build some kind of brace inside the cabinet?
