Tell Me True - Would You Accept this Tile Work? Pics attached
Comments (50)I second stw's thoughts...blame Bill LOL Really though, it's a horrible tile job. I've had jobs not as bad removed because of errors, but that job is terrible. Try to explain to DH about your kitchen value. Obviously you've put together a lovely new kitchen, which is great for resale value, but you took a very visual portion of the kitchen and basically wrote grafitti on it. So when you enter the kitchen to buy it...what will you see? The beautiful kitchen or the grafitti...when "F" is written on the wall...your eyes see that first. This is the tile equivilent to "F" written on the wall of a gorgeous kitchen. It's really bad. In addition, it will likely fall off eventually due to the luan...sheesh what a dork. I'd never use him again...I would let a good guy redo an error, but this guy went wrongg on so many levels (alignment, substraight, grout application, caulk application) that you're just going to be throwing good money after bad if you reuse him. I learned that the hard way, trust me, you don't want to let him anywhere near your walls aside from the removal process, and frankly, I wouldn't even allow him to do that in my home. I have to ask...because your kitchen is so gorgeous in all other finish choices....why the shiny white grout? Is there a white element to the kitchen I'm missing??...See MoreWhere to situate the stove/oven and range hood
Comments (14)Induction is great, heats faster than gas with no combustion byproducts. But, you need cookware designed for it. Tankless is great. I use one for in-floor radiant heat and another for Domestic Hot Water. Both are mounted in my garage and ducted outside. I believe that they need to be1 mounted indoors anywhere it gets below freezing. As for where to put your appliances? Since you have a clean slate, get some cardboard, or just use the floor, and mock-up your kitchen using painters tape or sharpies. I made cardboard cutouts of each appliance, sink, etc and placed them where I had the cabinet layout taped on the floor. It was easy to flip and flop designs to get what we want....See Moreplease help — How do I attach dryer vent hose to this opening?
Comments (20)That's some improvement and you had a short run to outdoors to start with. Probably will see a bit more with 'normal' mixed loads. Looks much cleaner & will be lots easier to clean. I replaced about 4' of semi-rigid flex with solid, changed the louvered vent outside with a ball seal (Lambro Vent Seal) and got the vent actually connected to the outside vent opening. DH had installed it originally; the tubing was not even connected to the tailpiece of the exhaust on the outside of the house! And no tape. Was a bit of a nightmare getting it connected because it exists thru the rim joist. So I had to work back in the recess over the foundation with floor joists over my head. Got it connected & taped up now. The space was so limited that I had to use 4-6" long pieces of tape to seal the joint. Combination of about everything that could be wrong was wrong. The periscope gained me about 2" of floor space, too. Which was huge given how tiny the laundry area is. Looks much more tidy and the reward was a big reduction in dry times....See MoreAlign photos to center of wall, or center of furniture? Pics attached
Comments (22)Maybe this helps explain the room better. Couches only overlap because of the AC/heating unit, we usually move it over when having company over. We like the pictures and want to put them up so discarding them isn’t an option. There are 4 different prints but I just edited the first few images to show an example of what it would look like. Toys will typically be everywhere.. small apartment living with kids! Thanks all...See MoreShannon_WI
