Should the ticking stripe in bedroom and bathroom match?
I think I've settled on this idea for my master bedroom makeover. Before I buy anything I've been trying to figure out what to do with the bathroom.
(We have a simple dark bronze Wesley Allen iron bed.)
- Navy ticking stripe euro shams
- Two larger square pillows in the blue green fabric
- lumbar accent pillow, undecided. Maybe solid, either the navy or indigo from the fabric and cording.
- White coverlet & bedskirt
- Navy ticking stripe duvet that matches the euro shams.
I'm considering this PB Wheaton duvet & euro shams but in the bathroom I think I'd like to do a roman shade in the green/blue fabric and use a navy ticking stripe shower curtain. I was going to order a custom shower curtain (long). The 'stripes' aren't going to match. Would you want them to match? Should I just order a custom duvet and shams that match the shower curtain?

Bedroom walls will most likely be BM Feather Down. New light curtains and bamboo blinds.
Some bathroom info: Builder basic. The floor is a blue gray vinyl squares (only thing gray in my house). Long vanity is painted SW Woodsy Brown (dark - could repaint or strip). Countertop is white. I think I may paint the walls in the bathroom a dark blue. I was aiming for emerald green but I don't know... I'm visual. I'd get a rug with all the colors and I have art for both rooms and will add some green majolica.

Comments (1)First tip- don't use white tile. Light grout is horrible. My friend has it and even with sealing several times she still has to clean all the lines. I recommend a neutral beige with beige grout. Or maybe even vinyl. Keep in mind that these rooms will be colder than rest of house. My dd has room located over garage and her room is freezing yet hall outside room is warm. If you do tile you may want to add the infloor heating, it is really cheap these days. As for the carpet if you are not matching the rest of the house, I would again stick to anything neutral. Get a good quality due to stains. Talk to the store about issue with room being cold, there may be pads or types of carpet that stay warmer. A mixed pattern may be good for stains, like an oatmeal look. Personally, you should not worry about what color you plan to do the room so much as the use of the room. A neutral will go with anything. I am considering using Quietude, OR a new color I found that is grayer than Quietude, called Cool Vista by Valspar Earth Elements which matches my coverlet. Comments (10)I'm curious why you say the bathroom cannot be made handicapped accessible? If necessary, the tub can be replaced with a walk-in (my sister did that in her house, for no reason other than she liked the look). Or, alternatively, there are companies who can cut a section of a regular tub away, and refinish, so it's more accessible to someone who is not as agile as they once were (my mom's apt. building had that done for her when she could no longer 'climb' into the tub). Maneuvering a wheel chair in a small room might be a challenge, but I'd think that in a pinch, it would be possible to at least go straight in, and back out, if necessary. So, I'd go with the wider door. Side note--I've got that quilt laid out on my new sewing room floor, in my new house (where I have almost no furniture in any of the rooms yet, since we're still in transition, too). 5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoI did consider a white at one point. I like that idea better with the navy ribbon. Do you mean a boarder, a few inches in, the whole way around? Width of trim? Any idea what material I should use?
Something like this? These are both only 72" though and I'd like a 78".
Would you still use the green/blue fabric as a window treatment in there?

Here's a more recent shot so you can see the bedroom better. I've eliminated some pillows. I do plan to use the tartan euros, houndstooth plaid shams and bedskirt, and red coverlet around Christmas.
Yikes, the bathroom isn't photographing well at all. It's BM Moroccan Red.
White blind will also go. Should corner shelf leave? I've always liked it but recently have been thinking it's time for a new home.

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoNew question. I found this Ikea duvet and shams for way less. They don't have euro shams but queen size of 20x30 which would fit the forms I have now.(pillows in the houndstooth plaid.)
The description says for full/queen and the dimensions are 86x86. - 100% cotton.
The PB Wheaton is 88"x92" and cotton/linen.
Which is a better/safer size for a queen bed?
Which pillow combo do you like better?

- White euros/stripe shams/large green/blue accent pillow
- Green/blue euros/stripe shams/another accent pillow
