I thought I had a Paradigm, but now I'm not sure

I've had this hosta for about five years. Bought it from a lady who said she had had a nursery, but now only sold privately. I bought a few different hostas from her. No virus. The names seemed to be correct. Now about this one. I understand that Paradigm is a medium/large hosta. Well this one isn't! Is Paradigm a slow grower? It has been a nice hosta, but many times I have just forgotten about it. But then I have a look, like now, and see that the coloring is rich and it lasts well to the end of the season.

I found one picture I took in 2016 with it flowering in mid July. Can you just venture a guess and then I will have to note particulars in future.

On the top right is a NOID which is similar to Blue Cadet.

So does this look like Paradigm to you?

my paradigm.. back in the day .. no clue why it is blue shifted somewhat ..

what about gold standard for yours ...

Here's a picture of my Paradigm growing in mainly shade, purchased 3 years ago. It is a fast grower. I removed the green eye this fall. Your plant looks much smaller. Very pretty hosta whatever it is.

(I was waiting around to respond so that someone who knew what they were doing could post a follow-up.) Now my two bits worth. When I had a greenhouse and did propagation experiments for my amusement I found that often I had better results starting woody cuttings when the plant was dormant. I never tried roses, hence my hesitation.

Jmc01... I usually do not advise to put a time limit on a sellers response. First, 99% of sellers will respond timely anyhow. Second, what happens if the seller does not respond by your timeline? Here's what happens... the buyer is now faced with two unsavory situations. One, the buyer saves face and moves on and loses the house of their dreams only because they put a time limit on the seller. Or secondly, and usually the case, the buyer realizes that they don't want to walk away from the deal after the deadline and continues with the transaction. Now, the buyer is faced with the decision of how to get back into the deal. And when you do, you just showed the seller that you are not serious about your "RED LINES" drawn in the sand. You cornered yourself in a box, and the two ways out of that box are usually very undesirable to the buyer. What I would do here is to meet the seller agent for lunch and really find out what the true concerns are for the sellers. And then address them. You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince. ;-P. If you weren't blown away, you just have to keep looking until something does make your heart sing - whichever counter surface that may be. I think I must have seen a million slabs of stone before I found "the one" (well, 2 really.) This is part of the reason why I can't understand how anyone can pick from a tiny sample at HD and be happy.

‘‘Tis is my large Paradigm in mid August I zone 5 and a leaf taken yesterday.
it gets about 3 hours of morning sun.

Sunnywood your leaf picture reminds me of Brother Stefan. I have taken leaf photos of BS in the past that look very much like that!

Royal Standard! I never thought of it being that Ken. I looked at the HL and my hosta looks quite like RS. Hmmmm. . . I will have to take more photos next year and see if I can figure it out.

So yesterday I decided to do a repot. Roots had a bit of rot. Not too bad. But what surprised me was that I found 9 little plantlets growing in the center! I removed them because I thought they wouldn't do well in there and also because I wanted to thoroughly remove all old media. Not sure what to do with these little plantlets and whether they will even survive in the garden.

I think the 2016 pic looks right for Paradigm, just looks like it's currently under-performing.

You know what Steve, I went to repot the hosta (after soaking it overnight) and found crown rot along with some root rot! So there is still hope it's a Paradigm. Definitely was under performing due to poor potting media.

I planted half of it in a pot and other half is going in the garden in a spin out bag. Hopefully at least one of these will regain its strength and become beautiful like everyone's above.

This is my Paradigm which also seems to be underperforming. I thought it was a slow grower. It get mostly bright light during summer but now is getting the low southern sun and is mostly in sun. Perhaps it's location under the tree is holding It back?Earlier this summer

How old is your Paradigm djacob? It looks nice to me! I had had my Paradigm in the ground for about two years and three years in a pot. Just seems like a slow grower to me.
