Painting appliances, does it work???
Comments (5)We spray painted a small dorm-type fridge from harvest gold (remember that?) to white. We did it 6 years ago and it's held up perfectly. No scratches or nicks or traces of gold. Just be sure you get the right kind of paint, tape up everything you don't want to get paint on (like the handles, gasket and coils and in the case of a fridge) and use proper spray-paint technique, with back and forth even strokes, not a bull's eye aim, so that you don't get drips and runs. I haven't done a larger appliance, but imagine it would work just as well. Good luck and let us know how it goes....See MoreHow do you get tough stains out of a tub?! Or does painting it work?!
Comments (32)I am with Kitchen Abode on the rubber mat issue. If you are willing to pick it up and it will dry after every use, then you can have one - ha! If you have a shower curtain with a tub, you will leave it inside the tub anyway, so it won't be in the way unless you get both a liner and a curtain. Instead, just get a plain or even decorative waterproof curtain and leave it inside. The caulk remover and the mold remover can make it so that the next caulk you put in will not adhere properly, so be sure to clean the surface really well before you caulk again. I did try using a tape caulk once and it was one ugly, moldy mess when I finally took it off. I never did find a way to stop the mold coming back on my caulk. It seemed to come from the back side, so I assumed the wall behind the tile was molding and it was "creeping" through. I solved the problem by removing the tub and the walls and putting in a big shower unit. No mold behind it, and no way for water to get behind the wall material (solid surface), either. With no "shoulder" as a tub has, I am hoping to never see mold again....See MorePainting or mirror over fireplace
Comments (16)This is same question as your other post: Definitely go with art over the FP. That mirror is too high and only reflects a vent. Usually the recommendation for art over FP is the size of the fire box but looks like you don't have the ceiling height for something that size. Look for art the same height as the mirror but a little less wide. Also I would paint all the walls the same color. The FP wall is too broken up with windows, etc to be an accent color...See MoreNeed Help Furnishing Family Room - Does my idea work?
Comments (38)"'Which one do you like best?" Honestly, I like the single 5 seater with the two swivel chairs the most because it is open and easy to access. You can always pull chairs in from the dining room table if you need more seating for folks. But the single couch with the two chairs is really nice, balanced and all you will need for your daily use. I do like the couch with the chaise as well for daily use but then I like being able to put my feet up or even recline in the evening while watching TV....See Morenlmackay
