I think it looks good, but you need to rotate the rug 90 degrees. It doesn’t need to go under your nightstands.

Doing a white shag rug and white sheets isn't mcm. hopefully you've got other decor items in mind? However, the rug would work (although I'd like a flat weave black and white one better) and I would turn it the other way, and pull it down from the top just a bit.

That rug serves no purpose except to make the dust bunnies comfy. It's far too narrow.

I also posted a link to mcm bedrooms w/lots of pics. maybe do that tall lamp (like in my last comment, the black one) for that corner. or do a little chair.

I personally wouldn’t want to have a bedroom rug that was basically under the bed. I think the best use if a bedroom rug is beside the bed so your feet don’t land on cold floors.

The rug also seems stark in terms of color. If you want a true MCM feel, then get a Rya rug. That’s what I had in my 1960”s childhood bedroom in shades of orange, red and yellow as I recall.

@Beth H, planning on getting either another matching side table for the other side of the bed, and lamps for both, or a floor lamp for the other side.
