Update On Mary Kate

It turns out that now, after more scans and Pulmonology consult, Drs think that she didn't have a clot or PE after all. Pulmonologist thinks it's Pleurisy/Pneumonia. There is also some fluid in her lung. She's not in pain now and the fluid seems to be lessening. She was discharged late this afternoon after getting some IV iron to treat her severe anemia. She'll be on steroids for a bit. She's going to be busy with medical appointments for the foreseeable future. It's really great that there was no clot, She would have had to be on a blood thinner for God knows how long. She'll probably miss the rest of this week of school, but is adamant that she wants to

finish the semester. Thanks to all of you who sent prayers and healing thoughts. Seemed to do the job. God bless you all.

I'm very disenchanted with this exchange. It seems most of the people of this exchange either dropped out or fell off the face of the earth. I spent alot of time preparing for and spending money each month trying to fill boxes. I've heard word from two very nice people that they received their boxes and the rest have not bothered. I spent the extra for a delivery confirmation to know if they did in case I had to send another box for replacement. I'm very sorry for those of us who were willing to continue with this exchnage. It was fun at first, but now I have decided to discontinue as well. No one is posting anymore. Thank you to those that played fair. It's 8:50 Texas time and there's nothing new on FB. She is constantly on my mind. Tyler is a long way from Seguin, or I'd go down there--at least talk to her family, since she's in ICU. She would love this weather we're having--at least in East Texas. I bet their weather is about the same. If prayers would heal her, she'd be out kicking up her heels w/ those precious twins. Keep the good thoughts going for our sweet girl.

I think I missed the background on this- but I am happy she is healing and that things are looking up. Wishing you all strength and healing- slow but steady wins the race.

Thank you all. Please do continue praying for her. She still has a lot of issues. She has to follow up with hematologist re her anemia and rheumatologist re her lupus, to see if it is the underlying factor in all of this. At some point she will have a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea??? She has an appt on Fri with her primary to help coordinate her treatment plan and med review, since she has multiple Drs prescribing. I'm trying to keep it all together, but I'm worried. No one else seems to be stepping up to help out and support her.

That's good news, but I can see why you're still worried. Has anyone offered an opinion as to why she has severe anemia? I guess you'll know more about that after the app't with the hematologist. She must be so happy to be out of the hospital!

It sounds to me like you have the stamina to be Mary Kate's medical gatekeeper. It is probably best that only one person is in charge. It is great that she wants to resume her studies and activities, but I hope she can listen to her body and doctors to set a pace that is right for her.

This is good news, but certainly not an "all clear".

I'm sure you will impress upon her the need to take this as the warning it is. She's too young to have a concept of the consequences she could suffer if she tries to brush this aside.

Susan, her primary blamed her heavy, long and too frequent periods for her anemia. Hopefully visit with hematology and follow up with a GYN ultrasound will confirm this. She's on more meds than an 80 yr old. I'm hoping she takes this seriously. I've been pushing her to see a GYN for yrs, but that one didn't stick. Now we're here. Kids, they think they're bullet proof.
