30' BlueStar Range from Costco
Comments (14)Brendan, the duct already is in your cabinet, right? Generally, cabinets above range vents are sacrificial to some degree or another. I would be very cautious about cutting the clearance between your vent "bottom" and your range "top" too close. As you practice with your Bluestar you will find yourself getting more salty with the pans and it is nice to have some clearance in there so you can "toss" the veggies and shrimps without having to worry about banging something. Also, I have a few brewpots for beermaking that are around 18" tall and I would not want to worry about having to lift them off the cooking surface with only a few inches clearance. Just some thoughts, YMMV. Best of luck whatever you decide....See MorePantry/Crawlspace access re-do
Comments (6)Dimensions added to the original post. I went to the Container Store today for another item and perused their shelving. I am thinking that some sort of track shelving that would allow shorter shelves on the top, longer on the bottom to accommodate the sloping ceiling, along with a few baskets might work. Then I could remove the shelves and brackets if I needed access to the crawlspace. I would need to find out how much weight some of them can hold, though....See MoreGarage door from Costco.com?
Comments (11)Don’t do it, worst service ever, 4 months and still don’t have doors, they have my doors but can’t install them for another month, doubt will have them at that time. They make less money on people that go through Costco so because of the discount I feel they put you at the bottom of the list for ordering, delivering and installing. Don’t do it, I ended up saving $160 by way of Costco gift card compared to other quotes from other dealers….not worth it, in hindsight I would pass on the gift card for good customer service (constantly made up different stories on why doors had not arrived) and to get my garage doors when I was told I would get them at time of sale. They have no problem taking your money, once they have that who cares when you get your doors. Don’t do it just go to a reputable dealer, Costco does nothing to back you up. I will never use Costco for any 3rd party installation, nope, not worth it....See MoreQuestion about small pantry access
Comments (8)If you're already doing a dance to get groceries in the house, definitely change to a pocket door between kitchen and pantry. It will be a huge improvement. At the very least, consider a bi-fold. I don't know if there's a hard and fast rule for pantry storage. What works for me: Dishes, bowls, gadgets, pots, pans used regularly go in the kitchen. Items I only use once in awhile go in the pantry. Example: 6 qt. pan in kitchen; large turkey roaster in pantry. Cheese grater in kitchen; canning jar lifter in pantry. Food used regularly in kitchen. Food eaten less often in pantry. We don't eat much cereal so it goes in the pantry. We are peanut butter freaks so that goes in the kitchen. We might buy a 20# bag of sugar which goes in the pantry but a smaller container, maybe 4 qt size?, goes in the kitchen. I don't eat much canned soup, for example, so it goes in the pantry but if I ate it every day, I'd probably have some cans in the kitchen but the other 15 cans I bought when it was on sale would go in the pantry and then I'd move them to the kitchen as the kitchen stash was eaten. If you pantry is unheated, it can be a good place for cold storage items like potatoes. Hope that helps....See Moresuezbell
