@willychristianson.. Just to clarify regarding Bari.. From the Bari website link you provided: "Due to their incredible popularity, we have commissioned the original designer of the furniture to make several more styles.." Now, to unpack this statement, you need some history.. Richter designes produced the original RH sofa designs. www.richterinc.com. When you go to that website, you will see that it was acquired by Robinson & Robinson and was rebranded "EnergieDesigns, a division of Robinson & Robinson." This is a company out of San Diego, that holds several lines, including the LeatherTrend brand, which is manufactured in Tijuana, Mexico. Look hard on the Bari website- you won't see references to the Bronti being made in USA. You will also see the mfg listed as Ferraro, which I can't find anything on outside of the Bari website. I don't own this sofa, but I'd really like to see the little white tag under the center cushion, and who made it/where it came from. The buyer is to assume that if it isn't made in China, it must be made in the USA. But you don't see that on the Bari website. Only references to "old world craftsmanship, artisans, etc." And we have a retailer in town with what appears to be the exact same sofa on the floor ($3k), with an R&R tag and Mexico origin. Other retailers of Maxwell clones make references to made in "North America." I haven't decided how I feel about the ethics of marketing one less-than-fully-disclosed import as an alternative to another import (IF, in fact these RH clones are coming out of Mexico). Thanks for the feedback. I did decide to go with the RH knobs (Gilmore) and pulls (Ephram). The weight is nice, and the Ephram pulls were closest to what I wanted (very simple) with a very smooth, comfortable feel. I only bought 3 3" pulls b/c to me 3" pulls are way too tiny. The best part about RH hardware is that the pulls come in so many length (3", 4", 6", 8" and online some styles can be bought in 10" and 12"). The bad thing is that they don't sell any appliance pulls (HELLO! Anyone buying knobs and pulls is highly likely to ALSO want matching appliance pulls!) Anyway, the absolute BEST is that I bought most of the knobs and pulls I needed in our local RH store, and sadly the remaining ones had to be ordered and they were backordered until 4/8 (not good for us!). However, the awesome manager at my store called around to other stores and found the rest of my hardware pieces at two other stores and arranged to have them shipped to me; he called me when I walked in the door to my house - AMAZING customer service! By far, the best purchasing experience I've had with shopping for our renovation! So, now I highly recommend them. The quality seems to be there and the level of customer service is extremely satisfactory!

ttodd, I agree! I do like the coloring in the store. I actually think the palette they have would be a brilliant background for colorful art etc. I have gray walls similar to what they have and I plan on adding color to my design plan. I think if they would have kept all of the same furnishings and just tweaked the color towards gray, I think it would have been much more successful. I just think they've become a caricature of themselves. I don't care for all of the weird aviator stuff nor the overly masculine aesthetic. My style actually is a bit masculine, but they've gone over the top with it imho. I do still think I see some good items like their curtains, their fixtures, some of their smaller accessories. I like some of their furniture, but don't see the mass appeal for their charred oak. I think for it to work, you have to have it throughout your house or it won't flow from room to room. Lastly, someone mentioned that you couldn't do a whole house in Pottery barn. I disagree with that statement. I actually do think that you could. It might not be thought provoking but it would be a warm and lively, honest space.

I wish companies would be more transparent/honest about where their products are made. I just bought an RH Maxwell sofa and was surprised with the Made in China sticker. I thought is was Made in the USA (not the only factor for buying it), but it was a combo. Eight way hand tied springs, design/fabric choices, and got it in under a week. I've been reading that 8 way hand tied springs don't mean much unless it's done well. How am I to know? Not like I can rip open the sofa to inspect so I just have to trust the company to a large extent. The vietnamese made Maison bedroom furniture, all wood, seems VERY well done. The slope back arm chair arrived cracked at the joint where the slope meets the back -- this was also made in Vietnam. It is heavy and feels solid though so may just be a shipping issue...they're replacing it. Their furniture is GORGEOUS and not something I see in most other furniture so I feel a bit torn. I'd prefer American made, but if it's made just as well, if not better, then I'm good with that. I just wish that they would warranty their furniture since the price tag is SO high.
