One of my favorite online stores is closing. Sad.

My favorite antique store closed...
Comments (12)Fortunately they are closing because they are getting older and tired of running the store, not because they are losing money. The bad thing for the economy is they are having trouble selling the building, and gave up on selling the business. They emptied it out by having these sales cuz the realtor said it would be better. That said, there used to be tons of "junk" shops around when I was young. They are mostly gone, non profit thrift stores have taken their place. I do miss them. That is a Fire King Peach Lustre plate. It had scratches in the middle as do several of the others. 2 of them are pristine and still have the gold stickers on them. I'll definitely save those. I did look on ebay and although a few things that I bought are priced high, they con't seem to be selling. The right buyer never came to their store, even at their occassional 50% off sales, so I'm not sure that I would have better luck finding the right buyer. The crystal stuff fits right in with my grandmother's wedding gifts that I like to use on special occassions. I'm glad to have it. Thanks for looking and commenting. Comments (21)I highly recommend Sebright Gardens in Brooks, OR. Fortunately, I am close enough to drive down once or twice a year to purchase. However, I have ordered specific plants to email as gifts to friends and was delighted to learn that they shipped big, healthy plants. Check out their catalog for some 'hard to find' varieties. If you get to the Northwest, walk down their hoop house to see 500+ varieties arranged in alphabetical order and then wander through their spectacular display gardens. It is a wonderful place to see full size varieties of hostas amid other shade loving plants and big trees. Comments (18)I totally second (or is it third?) 1st dibs -- got some great lighting from them as well as a beautiful 18th c. bureau and two 18th c. semainiers. I also am fond of Vivre -- my all-time favorite coasters I found there. (no longer available, otherwise I'd link them) And I lovelovelove Ruzzetti & Gow for bibelots -- I find lots of gifts (to give) there, as well as at Etsy. I also like Source Perrier (which was already mentioned above), although I think they are reasonably priced. I've been really impressed with the quality of everything I've purchased there. I'm not a big clothes shopper (girlfriends of mine seem to live to go to Neiman's -- pas moi!), but get me going on stuff for the house and I'm in danger. Ouch!...See MoreWhat are your favorite catalogs/online stores for linens?
Comments (16)Garnet Hill for sure, most of the GH linens are made in Portugal (not the Lilly Pulitzer and other designer stuff, I've never ordered any of those) and are very nice quality, have great and fun prints, last forever and aren't all silky, just crisp and clean feeling. They also have great sales at the end of the seasons and every day they have "Sale of the day" items, you can get some great deals on their sheets when they are on the sale of the day. sandyponder...See MoreIris S (SC, Zone 7b)
