Please help me design my family rooom built-ins
Comments (12)AnnieDeighnaugh - always love seeing your beautiful built-ins:) I haven't forgotten your clever pull-outs! Your bridge ties in the built-ins very nicely. Holly-Kay, I remember your kitchen cabinets turned out beautifully, I am going to hunt for pictures. No need to be envious (yet) - maybe I'll be done with this room in 5 years?!! voila - You may call me oldbat any time you like, no offense taken! Thank you for the feedback and ideas. Here's a shot with the deeper lower cabinets and lower built in height. I also adjusted the vertical stiles to 3". Need to really tackle the trimwork in sketchup to mirror what's in place; that will be a big part of getting this right. Note that there will be 4" free on both sides of the sofa. I don't think I like the deeper lowers, not sure it is as clean looking as I would like. Yes, I do want to increase the width and it does appear that the lower height does this. I will explore your idea of the bookshelves on the inside and front, interesting concept! Thanks all and please keep the ideas coming!...See Morefamily room / built ins / mantle design help!
Comments (7)Adding a wood mantle is a great idea and in regards to bookcases, maybe consider cabinets and open shelving to match mantle. With the other bookcases in room, there is a bit of bookcase overload If you do want something like the look below, make sure the bookcases reach the ceiling and have a trim for a more finished look. Really important as well is how you accessorize shelves and mantle and there is lots of on line help When you reference help with layout, hard to suggest - is there any other location for sectional? In regards to lighting, add lamps to side tables, a floor lamp located where it’s needed and if you don’t need the ceiling fan/light, replace with something that provides good lighting and also place on a dimmer. You can get a lot of ideas by searching Houzz and Pinterest for inspiration, as it is hard to know how much you want to change....See MoreShould I paint family room walls same as built ins?
Comments (8)I know this isn’t the whole wall. But this photo is inspiring. The color is similar to BM ocean city blue. I think it could work beautifully just on built ins. Or on the whole wall....See Morefamily room built-ins
Comments (7)Wish I had seen this before! My cabinets person did led strips along the sides and they are just too "in your face" even with a diffuser over them and dimmed down all the way. I will probably never used the lights :-(...See MoreRandy Trainor
