Removing a Ductwork that Blows Inside a Wall

Hello all,

I have no clue how to fool with ductwork, but there is one line that literally runs into an empty wall, no outlet into any room at all. You can hear it whistling between the wall all night when we don't have the fan on.

Is there anyway easy way to simply remove the line? Cut it and seal it? It's been driving me nuts for about a year now since we purchased this house. But I've had a laundry list of stuff to do and I'm just not getting around to it. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. I know we're just wasting electricity and it's limiting the amount of airflow into other rooms.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
