Help me redecorate The Forgotten Room (aka my family rec room!)
Comments (17)The natural jute or seagrass rugs will not look as good on carpet and may permanently discolor the carpet. Plus, it is just another edge for kids to trip on, so I personally would not layer flooring in that room just for looks. Reluctantly agree with above poster who speculated that bar table, while cute, would end up as a horizontal surface only (read: repository for anything you need to put down) and not as an eating area. I would maybe get a bigger ottoman than the chair (if you replace the chaise) would need, and get a nice big melamine tray with sides and a handle for the top for their food. (If you decide you want to try a table I wouldn't try a round one if it is going up against a wall for obvious space considerations, and I would get a regular height one, not the pub height...... think kids horsing around and falling off those high stools, their center of gravity is pretty high.) I bought a bolt of green and white mattress ticking fabric online years ago and had slipcovers made for two sofas. The slips outlasted the sofas! The navy and white (more in real life like navy and off white) is very durable if the fabric is cotton twill and woven, not simply printed on the surface. If you google signal flag pillows (images) you'll see an embarrassment of riches. If you go the signal pillow route you can always just do solid color pennants on the rafters. There are etsy shops that will make them to order in the colors you desire or you might find them already made. I have to say though that I really like the flags on rafters picture posted above!...See MoreSing with me my new blues song: "Oh, I hate my laundry room."
Comments (2)I have designed a few things in laundry rooms for clients that really maximize the space. A built in company can give you something sturdy that is customized for your space. If you need to do something on the lower price side these pictures may give you some inspiration. One is storage created above and on the sides of full size units. The other is a mud room that had a broom closet added and over head storage. My best advice would be design for the long run, don't do anything that won't convert well if you end up going to the stackable units....See MoreCan you suggest a blue for my living room walls?
Comments (11)thank you richfield95 - I love that blue. Yes, it is a TV room. I'm planning on the TV against the back wall on something open or simple (I like rustic contemporary) and the couch will be on the tall wall facing the window with a slim console table behind. Lil S - THANK YOU! I will try to look into that closer!! Beverly - Sigh. I know. I'm just really over white walls. I have been accenting white for so many years and I'm kind of over it right now. It is still a consideration though. How do you feel about one blue accent wall. :) Pandtkendall - All the flooring was selected and viewed in the house and I have fabric samples of the sofa. I've run it them both past the C&B person (she helped me pick the couch color based on the carpet I brought in) and then took the color we selected back to the person at my flooring place who will also help me with window coverings. It's just the paint that I really need direction on. :) And the accent chairs. I have NO idea what color I should go....See MoreHELP! Make my furniture look less blue!
Comments (37)Not a Pro. The room looks great! Just a suggestion....turn the ottoman to face the sofa and add a tray with some trinkets to finish off the room....See MoreUser
