Need help on floor tile layout - Horizontally or Vertically?
Comments (5)@Design Girl Should I stagger Option B or look cleaner not stagger Option B? I have a few more baths. Can you help check. My guest bath seems to be the wrong direction or since my shower wall tiles are horizontal, I should also go horizontal on the tiles. Please help with powder room. Option A or Option B. The direction is so confusing to me. Thank you....See MoreHorizontal or vertical tiles on backsplash? Grout color choice?
Comments (32)"Now you know why I am terrified to make a decision here. But I am not feeling the Quartz at all." There is a wealth of granite choices, Blue Dunes is not your only option... If you want something "safe" color-wise that you pretty much can't screw up, look at soapstone. Or, if you research soapstone and decide it's not a good stone choice for you, consider honed Virginia Mist (Jet Mist) or leathered Steel Grey granites. Or some other stone with a much lower degree of color variability. ETA: Honed Jet Mist: Leathered Steel Grey: (this person's kitchen is beautiful!!)...See MoreKitchen outlets horizontal vs vertical
Comments (14)If I did the plugmold, I would definitely get the low profile type. And would be very specific on where it gets installed. I've found some that also have USB plugs. We will have a dedicated drawer for charging phones, etc., but having a couple USB plugs under the cabinets might be good. So much to think about! @wdccruise I was going to search backsplash photos on here to see if there were any horizontal outlets/switches, but now I don't have to lol. But I still probably will. We have both Decora and Maestro switches throughout the house. I'm just not sure how they will look sideways. Will confuse my MIL for sure lol. She has a hard enough time with the Maestro switches when she cat sits for us. A sideways switch might blow her mind! Definitely need to find some pics or do a mock up somehow....See MoreIs it better to tile horizontally or vertically with a built in tub?
Comments (23)Ok - well I should have explained this a little bit better…..!!! We are building custom, and it’s 6000 sq feet plus. The bath that I’m asking about is an auxiliary bath that is an “extra,” bath. Our daughters want to be able to take a bath, and not use the parents bathtub which is in the master/owners bathroom, and is a freestanding tub. We will have 6 bathrooms, and this bathroom will be the only one that has an “attached,” tub. We are doing vertical tile in all of the other showers, some subway type direction, and some stacked. Being that we have built before, so- knowing that we don’t want to repeat the “same,” in all of the bathrooms - that was why I had asked this. If we do horizontal then - we would want wider tile than the vertical ones. And Diana, they haven’t even ordered tile yet, as the drywall isn’t up- as we are finalizing the electrical layout along with changes to the cabinets as well. So - that is why I was asking, as I have some, “stolen,” time!!! Hope this clears some up, and again- thanking all in advance as we really appreciate it.😊...See MoreAna Kinra
