I think the legs have been changed, I've seen something like this before but can't remember where, dr. office,in 60's maybe. I'm wondering if they weren't made for casters so could be moved?

Sadly, he can probably get off more easily than any of us would like to think. I don't know, but the realist in me says find a way to move. You can't depend on the neighbor's being incarcerated to go forward with a normal life. It sounds like your neighbor's "crew" still assembles despite his absence. If he and his friends disappear, is there potential for a replacement problem group taking up "residence" in your immediate vicinity. Could you have friends over for an impromptu summer bbq? It seems as though you can't plan anything outdoors so long as your neighbor's son & his friends are around. I can see this getting worse first before/rather than better. Things are definitely not in your favor with regard to the current real estate market, or for that matter, the economy in general. However, when it gets to the point that your kids can't safely go outside to play on a nice day, and you are living in daily fear, is it really worth your sanity and that of everyone in your family? I am a fighter as well as a total optimist. Before reading about your situation, I would have adamantly defended my right to live in my home. I would not allow the behavior of another make me move from a home I created. However, under your circumstance, I would definitely consider all options, moving being one of them. Is there a reasonable possibility that your neighborhood will get progressively worse, or is this an isolated thing within a 10 block radius of your home? If I were to take a walk in your neighborhood, would the gang presence be obvious to me? What is the the town like overall? It may be a strategic move to get out of this neighborhood now before it becomes reputed for its higher potential for crime? Also, I can't remember if you mentioned having any pets. If you do, they need protection from this situation as well. I wish I felt more optimistic about this getting better for your family. You and your DH are the only two people who can gauge what your home life will be going forward if you do stay in your current home. Also, I don't know the ages of your children and how "at risk" they are being next door to this kid and his friends.

kaylaurus - I really didn't hate the look of the cabinets, the floor, and I didn't even mind the laminate (except where it was missing). As I looked at the progress on the cabinets today, there are areas that are really just a small swap and some that are a large swap. I worried that DH was picking cabinets that were too similar to the old ones when he was looking at a particular shade of maple. But honestly, the natural cherry is far closer to them than that maple would have been. And that's okay, because, I too, liked the wood. It was just SO. DARK. The only kitchen light you can't see in those before pics is another of those anemic squares. Why we didn't re-do the lighting years ago is still a mystery to me. And it was SO non-functional/wasteful. The U inside the peninsula area wasn't bad, but beyond the peninsula was a wasteland of junk. Always. There were too many reasons for it NOT to be. A cleaned off deck/patio/porch sounds great. I definitely should have done that so we'd have had it to use when we were living with all the cabinets in the living room. Terri - when you said 'a quick roll-over' I thought lint roller...which is what it would mean at my house. :) Obviously, something much more lasting than de-dog-hairing. TG - Awesome to hear about the laminate work. I had a roommate once who built an awesome desk. I always thought...I could do that! But I have never come close after that. Installer left a little while ago. He. was. awesome. I'm very impressed. And in the 'stuff I got done' part of things, besides switching the W/D (still haven't cancelled the ASKO, playing phone tag with that salesman) I also ordered my UCL from Environmental Lighting. It'll ship Monday, I'll have it Tuesday. I also talked to my granite guy (early enough in the day I thought we'd template Tues or Wed, but I texted him later and said it could be as early as Mon (hopefully he can do it Mon). And I talked to the guy I ordered the fridge, range, and vent hood from and talked about what I should look for spec wise from these guys (since I've had to watch them on some things) and asked about who does what part of the hood/venting/roof cutting. When we had our roof done in the spring, the roofer said to just let him know when we were getting the new kitchen and he'd come cut the roof so he knows it was done right, but I'll have to ask him if his guys do the ducting too. Haha! Gg ... not the first time we both thinking and saying same thing. Many times I'm glad to scroll and find you have already taken care of "it." I meant to mention scale, too. If one is not using graph paper (I personally don't like drawing on it, finding the grid lines distracting) and one does not have an architects or engineers scale, one can use a common ruler as it is marked off in 1/8-inches. That's a pretty good size as the drawing is not too huge to fit on the paper and not too small that it's hard to read or fit things in. For areas where one needs it blown up in order to see a lot of detail, 1/4" per foot, as it is also marked out on a common ruler, is useful. If one has neither an architect's or engineer's scale, or square (T-square specifically) or graph paper, one can measure everything from square base lines that can be created from anything that's "square" ... a box of corn flakes for example. One measures both ends of lines drawn from a base line in order to keep them parallel. The double measuring is a bother, but will work in a pinch if that's all one has.
