Need help for white paint color for cabinets for travertine bathroom

My entire bathroom is done in travertine tile; the shower, tub surround, floor and counter top. The cabinets have a pink/yellow tone to them, sort of like the pickled cabinets of the 90's. I would like to paint them a white color. I am looking for a white with undertones that will not accentuate the already pink tones in the travertine. Something that will read a pure white. I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions. Maybe someone out there has done this project and like the white they used.

Pure White will make your stone look pink. Because it is. Something like SW Intimate White will look white against all of the pink stone, because it has the same tones as the stone, so they cancel each other out.

All variations of white have an underlying color to them--it's difficult to get a pure white. And a pure white might not be the best choice anyway. That being said, instead of fighting the pink tones in the travertine, you might want to select a color that blends with it. Or one that contrasts with it. A dark blue or green might look great. Can you post photos? Maybe the color guru, Lori Sawaya, may have some suggestions.

The only thong i'd change to keep either option from becoming dated is to use chrome fixtures instead of brushed nickle (the finish of the day now a days). Chrome has always been and will always be, in style, from victorian days on forward. I'll throw another option in the mix...I have tan travertine in my master bath with chocolate cherry cabinets and a brown ceramic tile (ok it's crocodile skin but we're not counting) with white fixtures. It's a pretty classic looking room due to cabinet style. My counters are crema marble (soft tan marble). In my son's bathroom we have travertine with nordic black antique qranite accents on the floor (baseboard molding) and in the tub surround pattern. His counters are granite in Aquerella (looks like black granite with tan rocks all over it). My take on a black and tan :) White fixtures with chrome because white and chrome is always classic.

Thanks for the lighting tip, sheamash. I’m having recessed lights put in and learned that you can set the “temp” of the light on the new LED fixtures! Went with BM Snowfall on the walls. Needs another coat but wanted to see how it would look before proceeding. Hard to get a pic of the room as it is small and L shaped but here is the vanity I painted, opposite the shower.

This was my master bathroom when I lived in El Paso.

It was a 4,000 sq ft ranch and this picture shows a fraction of the total Travertine in that house. It was everywhere, stem to stern. We called the shower "The Grotto".

I had 3.5 more bathrooms just like this (smaller) but same Travertine tile everywhere.

The white is Sherwin Williams Extra White; I put it on everything including the plantation shutters.

There's a meme out there on the blogs that says you can't use a "true" white with "Tuscan" Travertine. You have to use cream or an off-white.

That's a big fat lie.

I actually hated creams and off-whites with my Travertine house because it looked dead, dirty and depressing.

The contrast of a crisp white is the only thing that made the colors in the Travertine come alive and look clean and happy.

Travertine is a classic choice for Spanish Med homes here in the SW and I've never met a Travertine tile that didn't like a good, crisp, clean white.

SW Kilim Beige.

It was a custom build and the clients backed out of the deal and didn't finish.

We bought it from the builder 'as is' so there was a lot I didn't get to choose.

Like the faux finish on the columns. Always wondered what they'd look like with a silky smooth Extra White finish instead. If we would have stayed in that house, I would have had them redone.

But I was pretty happy with the choices they made overall.

Would Benjamin Moore Chantilly lace be a good choice for the cabinet color?

ish. Chantilly is okay, it's just not one of my favorite colors of white. Extra White, Delicate White from PPG, and plain old "white" from Ben Moore is underrated.
