Living Room Furniture and Layout Advice?
Comments (25)The moosehead will be wonderful. With that rock wall, it will be perfect. Living in eastern Washington (five miles from Idaho) moose heads are not that unusual. The leather and antler chandelier, will tie it all together. The other fabrics (especially some velvet) the lines you're choosing for the furniture, a little more carved detail (perhaps) on the wooden tables, (maybe a marble top, on an end table?) will all work with your rustic/romantic mix. Blondie- You have great taste, so go for it :) As for the sofa, check other furniture stores, but bring your picture. I'm sure there will be similar items that are much more affordable. Thomasville is not cheap, and Hemingway was their most expensive collection (probably still is)....See MoreAdvice on Kitchen and Living Room Layout
Comments (5)Thanks for the feedback on the furniture/rug, I never would have known about that! Yeah, my initial thought/idea was to keep the planks, painting them white; also agree with dark staining the beams! I like the current wood color up there for the planks, but I really want wood flooring, so I’m worried it’s too many wood colors clashing so that was my thought behind making the space between the beams white. I was planning on using the island for prep as well for that very reason (not much counter space), so I’ll definitely be looking to have drawers and cabinets on the island and toe kicks. Not sure if there are other things I should consider for prep (pullout cutting board?)......See MoreThe layout of this room drives me crazy! Design advice please
Comments (23)I like the new sofa position. It doesn't block the view of the trees or sky, and when you're sitting on the sofa the sun comes over your shoulder, making it a nice place to read because your page is well lit. Or lie on the sofa and look up into the sky and trees. I'd move the 2 chairs so they face the fireplace. That opens up the room at the steps and I think it makes it more inviting. Your furniture looks to be good quality. Maybe washable slipcovers to accommodate your dogs, instead of buying new? (Reduce, reuse, recycle.)...See MoreSearching for advice! Best way to design layout for my living room?
Comments (9)@Jessica L. Ah….I'm a sucker for a sofa under windows, so I can curl up in one corner and watch the world go by…or just sit there. I think I'm part cat. Empty nesters...us too. I kept thinking we'd have company over, but we don't. Glad you do. I liked having the kids and grandkids over. I hope to do that again soon. So this is your only room for entertaining? You two must be a very warm and welcoming pair. When more than 4-5 people come over is it family or friends, either or both? What do you do? All watch a game in that room? Have conversations all over the house? Are these family holiday or other gatherings? I mean if it's family, yes you need a place to sit, but chairs will get moved all over and there's card tables and folding chairs. If it's other couples like yourselves, then I guess it's more formal than family. I'm just trying to get a feel for the demands on your room. Do you like sectionals? Or would you be ok with a sofa and 1 or 2 chairs except for when you have company? If you are getting a sectional for extra seating, let me know. I'll try to get over my dislike of them.🥴 If I was a loner introvert who never had company, I'd like the sofa and a comfy chair with ottoman option. Then I'd put up a card table and put together a puzzle on it. With your gang coming over, I could see a sofa and two chairs and still have folding chairs ready. But that's what you have. Are you looking for a change? Is that why you are looking for a sectional? I guess whatever furniture you get, avoid the big bulky overstuffed type and go for lean trim lines. But if you want a sectional... You have my support of your Option 2....See MoreiMarc-Pro Architects
