Comments (13)Thanks rhome and bmore for that help. That problem is solved! I must have stumbled on that resizing option by accident in the first place. doraville, thanks for the empathy. Picasa is quite fast. I agree p'bucket is a pain to work through. Maybe after my kitchen is done I'll switch over. And your new kitchen is quite amazing! Beautiful cabinets, granite, floors, splash, dogs... The LOP probably helped get you through to this point, but I know you are happy to have your new elements finished! Congratulations! I'm guessing with those gorgeous cherry trees you live somewhere in the southeast, or eastern seaboard? jrueter, so funny about your DH! Now, you don't have any quirks like that, do you? I'm sure I don't! And I always do everything I am constantly telling my kids to do. rhome, with eight kids, I think there wouldn't be enough colors for that kind of a system anyway! But... sigh... it probably is yet another thing I just need to let go of for now. I always say I am going to deal with one thing at a time and end up trying to fix everything at once. I look forward to getting back to normal... if there is such a thing....See MoreOff-Topic- Why is my screen narrowed?
Comments (8)You can't. Several months ago (maybe even a year ago), iVillage made some so-called "improvements" - of which this is one of many ridiculous changes. Also notice that pictures all post pretty small now, no matter how big they originate from - it makes reading layouts very difficult! I think it has to do with mobile devices and iPads - in particular, iPads. However, I find trying to type on such devices too time-consuming (tiny key images forcing one to use one finger to type with instead of 10), so I don't do much more than occasionally browse using them. I've also noticed that people who use iPads and similar (although it seems to be mostly iPads) often post duplicate (and triplicate) posts, post pictures that are sideways or upside down, have frequent spelling/grammar errors (they blame it on the auto-correct - which I think they're right about), etc. The bottom line is that we now have massive amounts of wasted space on pages and it's more difficult to see pictures. I find it frustrating that to accommodate iPads and similar, everyone else has to suffer the consequences. It's easy to resize pages with most mobile devises - so why do the rest of us have to suffer? If it's so important to iVillage that it "dumb-down" its sites for such devices, then why not do what just about everyone else in the "world" does - create a "mobile" version of the site? Sorry about venting!...See MoreWhy does my AV change color?
Comments (6)Here's a good description of birthmarking that I got from an AVAVS article. (I've included the link to the entire article below it if you want to read more. It's all about variegated foliage.) Birthmarks This isn’t a form of variegation in foliage but simply a birthmark. It’s a genetic condition that can be found on the underside of leaves. An easy example is to notice that the underside of silver under sided leaf exhibits red staining or markings. This is often found in multicolored blooming varieties. By nature it states genetically instability, hybridizers usually set these plants apart for future hybridizations programs. It usually makes the prettiest plant (but may not always bloom or grow to specifications) as more color in the leaves usually means more color in the blooms also. http://www.avavs.com/varifs.pdf I think what we can gather from this is that Laura's Little Kunzite is exhibiting genetic instability. Now, I've not grown this variety and I don't know it this is common in this plant, but AV's do some very wonderful and interesting things when they make these changes (sporting.) Of course, it can also be very annoying if you liked the variety the way it was and wanted it to stay that way, LOL. But I'd keep an eye on this one and see what it decides to become. It is very interesting!...See MoreWhy does Houzz keep fiddling with the site?
Comments (8)The only time my url switches from GW to houzz, is when I click on the activity, messages, or orders, subheadings of my member page. Ideabooks doesn't affect the url (not that I have any ideabooks--that might be why it doesn't change the url). I don't visit many forums, so I can't speak to the url changing in different ones-- but I assume if I clicked on Design Dilemma it would switch to houzz url. (ETA, nope--I tried it and the url doesn't change...at least, not today.) There was a time--maybe a couple of years ago--when I could only use the GW url if I signed in using one of the conversation forums links. I kept KT and HT bookmarked on my computer, but then houzz changed that, no matter which link I used it switched to houzz. Eventually, they separated the sides so the GW url started working again. An easy way to find a GW link is to google 'gardenweb kitchen table' or whatever. The first link below is GW:...See Moresalonva
