Save my marriage!!!
Comments (43)LOL!!! daisychain that's really funny since I'm listed on Linkedin as Professional Bum and I'm VERY successful in my field!! Well, black it is. Roughly installed today but needs some adjusting for square and a new handle set. It came with brushed nickel but we're brass on this old house so ordered another set. Once it's all done I'll get new pics but I'm pleased. It's going to take some time for my eye to adjust - 22+ years with no storm door. THanks again for the input - didn't count but black seemed to pull ahead in votes just a bit ;-)...See MoreMy DH Just (Literally) Saved My Life!
Comments (31)So happy for you, Lynn, that your DH discovered this, and that now you are fine! And I appreciate your reminder that we need to be tuned in to changes in our skin and that a good dermatologist is important for our health care. My dermatologist is a good friend; I see him regularly; several years ago he found and removed a squamous cell carcinoma on my collar bone that was just a tiny pink bump. Here we are in California and he rails against the sun and "the beach"; he is all for sun bloc and sun glasses and more time indoors. He's right!...See MoreMy cat bit several of my calthea leaves, how do I save plant?
Comments (3)They'll almost always be absolutely fine, just with a few bite marks in them. Been there, done that, had arrays of bite marks like a dot matrix printer in the leaves of many, many plants because my beloved Sage liked to do that. The Calathea is also completely cat safe, so the reverse is true as well, the cat will be fine. If you can separate the two (yeah, I know), great. If not, prepare yourself for leaves with tiny bite scars that look like vampire marks on them, just from rows of teeth. Once a cat decides it likes a plant, the plant is not safe. To deter the cat, the same spray I use for rabbits sometimes works, and a cat is a lot smarter than a rabbit. Spray the plant with this and the cat learns fast: In 1 qt water: 1 tsp Tabasco sauce (not enough to hurt, but it does not taste good) A few drops white glue (ditto) 1 drop soap or dishwashing liquid (the soap is better in this case due to the cat and I wouldn't use dishwashing liquid; outside it doesn't matter) Gently spray the plant, just a bit. The cat won't like the smell or the taste and should avoid it. Reapply if necessary, and more heavily if necessary. It usually isn't....See MoreCan I save a photo in my idea book to my computer?
Comments (5)On a PC, you can click on the "start" button and start typing "Snipping tool" (I almost wrote "sniffing") to open the tool. I had never used it before, but Houzz in now making that tool essential. Pretty soon they will make that impossible as well, in order to remain being as annoying as possible....See Morecpaul1
