Sliding or Hinged Door for Patio Door

Hello,

Seeking your advice on the patio door options. We have 105 inches of rough opening, which is about 4 ft away from the kitchen island. Initially, we had planned to keep the existing window but made a last minute decision to convert to a door. We are still in the beginning of the project so we could move or reduce the island island to allow a little bit more room near the door. With that, two options are:

1) 8 ft sliding door: this means each door is massive close to 4 ft which may be too heavy and cumbersome for young children or elderly parents, allows for an ample light, and doesn't swing in so doesn't interfere with the island seating situation. However, I feel that this lacks classic style.

2) 5 ft french door with two 17.5 inches sidelites on each side: although this is my personal favorite, it may interfere with the island/sitting situation when opened into the kitchen. I love the symmetry of the french door.

Thank you
