Hallway to Foyer Vaulted Ceiling Design Help
Comments (2)Thank you for the response! Didn't get a notification from Houzz so just saw it. If I did an arch top opening, how would I do the rest of the hallway? I don't want to make it a barrel vault for the entire length of the hallway. Would it look too broken up if the hallway ceiling started flat and then have the arched top opening at the end right before the vestibule? What would the flat ceiling height and top of the arched openings be to work well with the 11' vestibule? The backup design would have been 10' flat ceiling in hallway opening to 11' flat ceiling in the vestibule. It's just too ho hum for me but I'm having a hard time visualizing the superior design....See MoreFoyer Decor/Design help needed
Comments (1)So for the hallway, I would recommend the Hemnes cabinet from IKEA (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/hemnes-shoe-cabinet-with-2-compartments-white-20169559/. It has a small drawer where you could put the dog leash. If you don’t have one near you, they do ship but only to certain locations. For the family room, I would look at a storage bench with baskets like this one from Lowe’s (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Coastal-Gray-Wash-Storage-Bench/1000777730). But I would put one of each side of the desk if that would work....See Morechandelier design help in patio entrance/foyer

Comments (4)The style of the front door and the closet doors are inconsistent with MCM. They may have been replaced at some point. The original doors were probably flat - no panels. The new front door you've chosen isn't MCM. The floor is probably original as it is identical to the one in the '60's house I grew up in. I'm not sure which direction you want to go in. How have you decorated the rest of the house? You have an opportunity to change the doors and return it to its MCM roots. Since MCM is all the rage now that doesn't conflict with "modernizing" it, but you said you want to bring it out of the '60's. If you want to go in the direction of transitional style you shouldn't do a horizontal railing and you should change the flooring....See MoreK Lynn
