Please please please help me pick a paint color!
Comments (9)North facing rooms will be dark most of the day and pick up purple tones from any paint. I would look carefully at the undertones and the formulas to ensure you don't have a lot of red and blue if you can't tell from the paint itself. I had a home with a north facing kitchen that I actually wanted to bring out the purple in so I purposefully went with a barely periwinkle gray that appeared full on periwinkle in that space. I suspect you don't want purple in your room. North facing rooms will also make your color appear deeper so you want something with a high light reflective value. My vote is for BM Gentle Cream....See Moreplease help me decide- I am going crazy trying to pick cabinet color.
Comments (4)This is what I did in my kitchen, dining, great room....Hickory floors, Homerwood, random plank, factory finished in Saddle. Interior doors, solid wood ( for staining purposes, my builder used mahogany), and I chose the darkest color in the Hickory floor) for 12' bar and doors. Cabinets, walls, trim, painted in the appropriate finishes, Divine's Icing, sample is not showing true...gorgeous warm white. BTW, that a Japanese antique kimono on the wall. Doesn't show the beauty in the photo....See Moreplease help me pick out a kitchen cabinet color!?

Comments (13)No need to be in a rush, those cabinets don't look dirty or worn. It seems a nice working space over all. I'm not sure about the yellow wall paint but think I'd focus on that before tackling the cabinets. And Yes, I know having it done after you've moved in and are using them will be more disruptive. Its hard though to get the feel of what is going to make you happy until you've lived there and seen them in all weather, all kinds of light. My kitchen had one wall painted gray. The entire 1955 house is and has always been warmer shades of off white, malt, tans. In the afternoon that gray wall can be blue. In morning sun lavender (yikes, my least favorite). We'd been in the house for social occasions then really looked at it nearly empty in late Fall with low sun angle. I would never have known from our briefer periods here. You must not be familiar the Samplize. Generously sized and easy to remove stick on color samples. Worth the investment. I have them up in this office right now, ready for a change but a change in keeping with the original vision design. Any good paint brand should be able to match once you've decided your perfect color....See MoreBarnes Custom Builders
