HAVE: C. Ovata (Crosby Compact, Gollum, and Hobbit) cuttings
Comments (0)Hello GW, I did some trimming on some of my plants and have these cuttings for trade. I am looking for any Jade varieties that I don't have, but will also consider any variety of Jade that you may have to trade. List of what I currently have: Crassula Ovata Crosby's Compact Crassula Ovata Gollum Crassula Ovata Hobbit Crassula Ovata Hummel's Sunset Crassula Ovata Red Horn Tree Crassula Ovata var. obliqua f. variegata 'Tricolor' Crassula Ovata Bluebird Crassula Ovata I have attached a picture of the cuttings to this post. Thank you :-)...See MorePruned a few Jades....
Comments (24)Well, I debated whether I should post these updates, as I certainly don't want my posting to appear antagonistic. That said, I took the pics to be shared, so that's what I'll do. I'm most excited that the obliqua is showing signs of new growth...sure, I believed it would, but taking a Jade back to nothing always presents a risk. The small-leaf Jade (most likely 'Crosby's Compact') that I tip-pruned. And lastly the 'Gollum' that was pruned. Josh...See Morea list of the species I have in 2014
Comments (1)Impressive list. And you probably have few of some/each? Mostly of what I would like to have - I have only 'run-of-the-mill' plants. But happy as long as they are happy. I just started on similar list...thank you for posting - gives me little nudge to finish. Rina...See MoreWhat is the difference between these two jades?
Comments (13)Josh, thanks for the comparison. To me, the second you posted has leaves that look a lot like a miniature version of 'Hummel's Sunset'. Is this one one that is considered to be true 'Crosby's Compact'? My minor looks a lot like your first picture now but in the summer it was bright yellow. Unfortunately I don't have a saved picture of it from then on the computer I am using. I actually bought it as a regular jade from Wal-Mart and noticed that the leaves were never getting to the right size just this past summer season! Is the smaller one in the third picture the same as the one in the first? I have a minor cutting from Nancy that never turned this color over the summer but it is a very young cutting. Crenda, I think it is very interesting to see how something so simple, such as a change in the type of pot being used, can completely change the way the leaves look. This is what made me really wonder about whether there are truly separate types or sports of C. ovata minor. I know Christopher has the Himeougonkagetsu but his never turned that golden color that I have read about from what I remember. Is the Himeougonkagetsu similar to the Crosby's in leaf color? guimeixen, what a wonderful transformation from when you bought it! -Erica...See MoreRandi Holbrook
