Helmouth, I do apoligize, I did mix up a word. When you purhcased it at the Botanical Garden in Germany why didn't it have a name. I was only giving you suggestions of what it could be. I am not a botantist so do not name plants. So many of the people here in the US buy their plants at Wal Mart or Target. I am so glad that you posted the name, that may perhaps help me as well, as I have 300 Sansevieria, mine are documented plants. Not all species, many are hybrids, but are documentated as to parents. The second one also has a wider channel, and Karen you see what you see, I was thinking the 2nd one may be the S. powellii it is rarely found here in the U.S. both plants are young yet, check back in 5-10 years and perhaps then we can ID it for you. I have S. rorida, and I know it is not that plant. Check with the person you got it from. I also agree about the first one may be S.perroti in good light this species will turn blue. Please folks show us the apex of the leaf, channel, feel both sides of the leaves, top and bottom and let us know how it feels, (sand paper, rough, smooth, waxy). This is important information. Most of them do not tell us who the are for at least 3 years to 20 years, it takes years for experts to classify the species. Some have three stages of growth. Antoinette, I'm not exactly sure how much/how little to water Sans in the winter (this will be my first winter with mine), but I think they can go at least month without being watered (Hopefully someone more experienced will chime in on this) As most plants are dormant or more slower growing period (due to less sun outdoors among other things) in the winter, they don't need as much water. I believe your skewer method is a good idea for the spring/summer (you can get away with watering more frequently during these times of the year). I use a toothpick instead of a skewer and it works for me with watering my Sans (in efforts to not overwater). I figure it's better to underwater than overwater, but they will be happiest if in between the two (so when in doubt, don't water, essentially). How I use my toothpick method is kind of like cooking brownies, if soil comes out, it's still most, if not, I need to give it a drink. As to the uprightness of your Sans, I'm not sure to be honest. I have a pup like yours (same hahnii, much younger though) that only has three leaves, it's very upright at the moment but I believe in time it will "rosette." That being said, I believe yours will over time again, I think the shape turns more "rosette" with more leaves. Hope I've helped. :) Planto

I grow s. masoniana. I don’t think your pretty is it. Not wide enough leaves, not roundish enough near tip area, marking pattern on masoniana is different than yours. Yours reminds me of a big s. trifasciata, not an easily found cultivar. You have a very nice Plant. Masoniana? Don’t think so. this is a pic. of a. masoniana
