If painted brick fireplace, did you also paint the floor area?
Comments (2)If you paint the hearth, choose a color that tones in with or matches the floor. I painted (color washed, really) the brick fireplace wall in our previous basement with the neutral off-white wall color. I took some hideous vinyl tile off the concrete floor, painted the floor chocolate brown, and painted the raised brick hearth black...I used flat black for the first coat, and then went over only the surface of the bricks with satin finish...looked more natural to have flat finish on the mortar. I often recommend that technique for any color of painted brick....See MoreHelp With Fireplace Wall and Paint (Pics)
Comments (29)Beautiful home. Love the big windows, the fireplace, and the antique dresser. I wanted RH Flax for my dining room redo, but it did look very dark in my room. Also, it was a good contrast for my armoire and dining set, but not so great for the old very dark sideboard on the opposite wall. If I had had a bigger room, I would have tried it. You do need a good contrast color for the fireplace stone and if you are working with a mix of RH Cappuchino, Flax, and Antique White, I think you just might have it. The first photo Squirrel posted was my favorite, and on this monitor (not my regular computer) it looked like a dull green. Only go for green if you really want it though. I think the brown combo is going to be wonderful. Flax is pretty deep, but in a well-lighted room, it would be lovely. Red...See More1928 Tudor: Paint? Comments (1)Do you have any inspiration photos? What kind of mini-events? It looks like you are in the middle of rearranging things. If you want advice on decluttering, just start a new post. Here are three ways to brighten up the space: -prune trees and shrubs that may have overgrown the windows -add floor lighting in corners with $25 can lights pointed up to highlight the walls and woodwork. -replace small plug-in wall lights and ceiling lights with larger statement pieces, either new or refurbished. A grand chandelier will set the stage.
