Water softener drainage problem
Comments (4)Thank you for the response. It looks like flushing the system with more water will be the plan. Unfortunately, without the softener, our plumbing fixtures and toilet get a thick deposit of scale in no time. My husband is especially worried about the scale that may be forming in the pipes where we can't clean it. Thanks for the suggestion to flush with more water. Comments (14)Chelone, I tripped in here via a web search for Tigerwood (can't believe people build decks out of Tigerwood- wonder what they look like!) anyhow, I digress... I haven't read any other posts in this forum, so not sure why Duradek wasn't brought up as an option for you. WE had it installed on our previous deck- no problems for over 10 years. We also ripped out an old fibreglass/covered plywood deck and had duradek installed in this house- oh probably 10 years ago- zero problems, no leaks, though color in pattern has been scrubbed off in high traffic areas- still looks pretty good though! We have the same situation, garage under deck, so waterproofing a high priority! Here is a link that might be useful: Duradek vinyl...See MoreWater drainage under IPE decking
Comments (14)I guess I really screwed up. Can't use IPE because of the weight. Got any suggestions on a good composite decking? I originally was going to use composite, but then I started reading horror stories about it growing mold/mildew spots all over it. Then I started researching alternatives to the composites and found out about IPE. I thought I have found my solution, but now my structure won't support it. I don't want to create the possibility of danger when my friends are all over "having a beer". Why do companies put out specs on treated lumber and recommend joist sizes when they are just under a failure point? Do they expect no one to have parties on their decks. Anyway, if anyone can recommend a good composite or plastic decking, I would appreciate it. Comments (1)There are many details in your post that could impact the situation, but it is almost impossible to grasp them when we can't see anything. Please convey everything you speak of in pictures ... not close-up pictures, but one's that show how the things relate to other things ... wide-view pictures that show the lay of the land & convey slopes as much as possible....See MoreUrban Lavaca
