Side entry front door (landscaping advice)
Comments (9)Widen the walkway to the front door. Right now it's difficult to tell whether the entry is on the path on the right or the path on the left. You don't have to curve it since people will naturally want to take the shortest path to their destination. You could even just line the outside of the existing walkway with another material (stone, brick, stained concrete, etc) to add interest. Trim the shrubs back from the walkway. Right now they are completely obscuring that there is an entry when you're standing in front of the house. The goal is for people to see where the entry is and feel invited to walk there. You could consider re-landscaping the whole front bed or along the walkway if you like, but at a minimum that hedge needs to be trimmed back. Our minds are also naturally drawn to walk towards light. Right now it looks like you have a single small light to the left of the door. I wonder if putting a larger light there and maybe adding more lights (one maybe at the very end to the right of the door) to entice people to walk towards your door would help....See MoreEntry/Front Door Advice
Comments (2)Thanks for the advice. I was thinking of something like this picture below, but not sure if it fits the style with the grills. Maybe it's ok without them? Or should I go with all glass or at least 3/4 glass. Desperate for light as entryway is so small and cramped. With current door I have to leave door open to get light through the screen door. Would love to remove it. Need a color idea too...See Morefront entry before and after advice
Comments (2)Amy, agree that planters are too small. Height seems ok but they should be wider to make a bolder statement. I would look for wider, bulkier planters.. These 2 you have would look great on first step though - it would look nice to continue the black accents down your steps. Maybe also consider adding a wide doormat with black trim on it. Very pretty entry! As for the mirror, the color looks perfect for the entry chest! I do like the mirror shape & its texture & beveled glass too. Can’t tell the mirror size - there’s some rule about size but can’t say what it is. I think make sure it’s wider than the center door section of chest. That means more than 1/3 size of cabinet- I’m sure someone will chime in to correct me!...See MoreAdvice to refresh our front entrance
Comments (4)I love a cat slide roof! Because it's the same color as the roof and trim, it sort of disappears. I would stain the cedar white, remove all the posts and replace with a simple 6 x 6 square post, just enough of them to support the roof. You may need to add a header. Replace the tile with a bluestone or slate either real or tile look alike....See MoreJBB
