Is BenMoore Ashley Gray too dark for kitchen & fam rm?
Comments (6)beekeeperswife - Thanks so much for your reply! I LOVE your kitchen and feel like I'm writing to a celeb b/c your kitchen has made it to the BIGtime. Really! Your gorgeous kitchen is one of my inspirations and your layout (kitchen next to family room) seemed similar to mine tho I can't remember whether you had the same ceiling in fam.rm. I've never done the 50% trick --but it sounds like a great idea for the vaulted ceiling. I want to avoid the stark color difference that I have now w/ the straw/vanilla icecream and reddish (I forget the color) accent wall. I also love your table and chairs in your kitchen -- would you mind telling me where you got them? I want to do a 42" round with leather chairs. Thanks again! caroleoh, thank you too!!! I wish I could wait, but we are hiring painters, who will paint right after the cabs go in... so I'm under the gun to figure out the colors and backsplash... And oh you have a goldendoodle!! My Bella (still a pup -just 1 1/2) would LOVE to play with Rudy. And I would love to get tips from you (sorry this is OT), on getting mats out!!!!...See MoreBenjamin Moore Amherst Gray (HC-167)
Comments (27)No, I didn't paint the dining room. Yet. I don't know. I keep going back and forth. One day I want to paint and the next I love the current color. I can't figure out if I really want to change the color, or I'm just looking for a project! The pictures were taken with my iPhone, loaded to my PC and then here. Probably related to iPhone/PC incapatability. I wonder if I uploaded to photobucket and then put there, it would be ok. I will try. Tuesday - your granddaughter's girl-cave sounds wonderful! What a nice gift for a tween! The bedding in his room is going to change. Right now it's all black and it was originally bought a couple of years ago when we thought we were going to do the black/gold theme of his baseball team. Right now he's liking this one from serena and lily but I'm still looking around....See MoreBenjamin Moore Classic Gray - too beige?
Comments (83)Without seeing the floors, it’s very hard to say, but somewhere in this post you can see my wood look tiles in my bathroom which are gray and it looks awesome. I would recommend getting a sample and putting it up in the basement. Since I assume there is very little natural light, the tone will largely depend on your lighting. If your flooring has a warm gray tone to it, it will probably look great. If it has a bluish cool gray tone to it, you’d have to see how it looks side by side. Hope this helps a little! Can’t believe this post is still going strong after so many years 😆...See MoreAnyone use benjamin moore castle peak gray on their kitchen cabinets?
Comments (9)IMO that color is much too dark for a north facing kitchen. It's also a greenish, brownish color, not so much gray, which I'm sorry to say a lot of people would refer to as baby poop color. I have a north facing kitchen which has dark cabinets from the previous owners. I guess they didn't like the original white, but when I remodel in a couple years I will definitely be going back to white. Even if you don't like white, there are plenty of lighter colors you can be looking at. If you like green, look at lighter, more true greens. Even if this isn't your style, this is the color I and probably the previous poster are referring to: Colors get washed out in northern light. Since this is a new build, if you can't look at color swatches in the actual light, try to find another north facing room in your current house or a friend's house in which to view samples. This is a big commitment, so think about this choice carefully. After you pick a color, see if they can get you a sample door before they do the whole kitchen....See MoreFarrah Aversano
