Benjamin Moore paint question
Comments (63)Well, I bought a quart of Revere Pewter, and one of Gossamer by Pratt & Lambert...just a tad deeper than the Feather Gray, as well as a test quart of Sherwin Wms Requisite Gray--the pretty one from Ttodd's old bedroom pictures. They are all so close. Seriously close. The Requisite Gray has the same depth as Revere Pewter, just maybe one slight tad more gray. The Gossamer is almost a match for Revere Pewter. So, now I've determined that what I need is something just a little warmer, and perhaps a shade darker. If you saw my living room right now, you wouldn't even know what to think. I've splotched a dozen things. All walls are painted. Just not the same!! Red...See MorePaint color help for kitchen island please!
Comments (2)Benjamin Moore Amherst Gray HC-167 I just picked one. I don’t know the exact color of your cabinets, floor, countertop, or backsplash, which would influence the color I would choose for the island. Or you can pick an island color that you love and choose the other finishes to coordinate. Personally, I would pick them all before I began the gutting. Comments (14)Another thought I had was was bring the Edgecomb gray into the family room (replace the acorn yellow color with it) and paint the accent wall Bordeaux Red (a "blackened burgundy" by Benjamin Moore). I have Bordeaux red in the dining room so it may be nice to pull all the colors together. However, one friend seems to think too much Edgecomb Gray everywhere will be "boring". Comments (2)I think that LRV is the least important and easiest to determine aspect of color when trying to blend/match/complement another surface. Any light color, including white, has a high LRV--Chantilly Lace is 90% and White Wisp is 80%, so you probably won't see a difference between them outside, especially on a sunny day. More importantly, you need to take into account the hue and chroma of a color when looking for a complementary color for the pavers. Hue meaning the actual color as per the "rainbow" (red/orange/yellow/green/blue/purple), and chroma meaning how bright or saturated the color is. Your pavers look to be gray (from what I can tell from the photo), and if you want a color with a lower LRV, which means a darker color that won't be so reflective, then go with a medium gray, not any of the whites. Try Coventry Gray (HC169), Boothbay Gray (HC165), Brewster Gray (HC162), or any of the medium grays in the fandeck. Keep in mind that you need to see a large sample of the color outside, on sunny and cloudy days, to select the best color. Also keep in mind that all the neutral grays belong to a hue family--some will appear more blue/green/purple, etc. but you can only tell how they'll appear by viewing them yourself in your space. Good luck with your search!...See Moremaggiepie11
