Need paint color suggestions/advice for kitchen cabinets
Comments (5)I looked at Elephant Breath (SW I think), Revere Pewter by BM, and couple others. They looked just great when put on the horizontal surface; the moment I turned the painted samples vertically as kitchen cabinets would ultimately be, they lost their warmth and seemed much cooler and dull, in any light-inside the house and in the full sun outside. I ended up looking at 14(!) samples taking them around the house and checking them in different lights and times of a day. In the end, I went with a custom color that I happened to stumble upon in our carpenter's shop. It was a formula that was mixed by some designer for a very high end kitchen in Malibu..It turned out to be wonderful. The cabinets are installed and make me happy each time I look at them. But it's not gray. I don't even know what I should call this color. I just know I like it lol. Get samples; you never know how a color would behave until you try it. It will be tiresome; but ultimately you will be pleased with your choice....See MoreAdvice needed on Hallway/Kitchen paint colour!
Comments (8)Your old wall color Wind's Breath was a pale gray gold-yellow. Your choices to replace it are all a pale but more pure yellow. Cloud White has a Hue of 55, and both Cloud Cover and Silver Satin have a Hue of 53. I sampled the colors via my photo program, but because paint is a combination of pigments the photo program doesn't catch all the nuances. Nonetheless, the colors are nearly identical. When spread over a wall there will be variations of tone due to highlight and shadow. Northern light is bluish, and will make yellow seem more green. You might correct this by using warm white lighting, that is bulbs with low color temperature (below 3000K). The light in the photo of your kitchen table seems to wash the color from the wall closest to it. It could be a daylight bulb with a color temperature of 6000K or higher. These are great for detail work, but give off a bluish tint. In contrast, your formal dining room light gives off a decidedly warm yellow light. This LINK shows how a bulb's color temperature affects colors it shines on. Many designers recommend you use a pink tinted paint for a room with northern light....See MoreNeed advice choosing a paint color for kitchen cabinets.

Comments (28)You could do it w/a jigsaw. (borrow or rent one if you don't have one) These are some DIY links that will walk you through it. Grab a friend w/a bit more know-how if you don't think you can manage. (or, you can always pay a pro to do it. ) DIY all you have to do is go to a glass shop and give them the measurements of the cut piece you'll need. try seeded glass. then you silicone the glass on the back and hold in place w/glass clips. https://www.familyhandyman.com/project/convert-wood-cabinet-doors-to-glass/ a few more how-to's https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/how-to-add-glass-to-cabinet-doors/ https://providenthomedesign.com/2014/03/03/diy-glass-cabinet-door/ This one is very detailed: https://simplyrooms.wordpress.com/2012/09/23/project-converting-cabinet-doors-to-glass/ you may need some more tools for this since you are keeping the real wood. you'll have to finish off the edges after cutting. not difficult, just another step. for a few hundrend, you could prob get a cabinet guy to do it all for you....See Morerichfield95
