I did not paint my oak cabinets for many reasons - one of which is I've seen a lot of painted over previously finished cabinets five years down the road and not been impressed. Also, I just prefer the warmth of the wood. However, if your cabinets are in poor shape anyway, you haven't much to lose. I prefer the mossy green to keep the kitchen tone "warm", but none of your colors will make the countertops look better - sorry. Your wall paint should come last. It is the easiest thing to change, so get the cabinets right first. Should you choose to put your budget to countertops instead, they and the backsplash will affect wall paint color. Computer monitors often show colors poorly. On mine, your wall color looks too cool for the wood and the paint color possibilities. The farmhouse style is more than the color of the cabinets. As has been noted, may newer kitchens are coming out in wood in a similar style, but with a movement back to warmer colors - the cool white and gray is not as popular as it used to be. You will want to study the kitchens you like for the "extra" features - some which you could easily add to your kitchen - for example, a more decorative range vent/hood. Consider removing all the cabinetry above the range and getting a stainless vent that truly vents to the outside if the present one does not. You might add a small amount of open shelving primarily for decor. Look at how cabinets with glass doors are styled. Your home has some craftsman features - look at craftsman kitchens also for some ideas. I retrofitted a plate rail in a cabinet. I also got a "short apron" apron front sink that could be installed on a standard sink base cabinet. Look for features that are less a particular "style" and more evoke a feel that a 1924 house would have - warm, cozy, simple. SW 7028 incredible white. It’s a soothing white - I didn’t want stark. I went against designer idea to match the crown molding / trim to cabinet color. I wanted variance-cabinets to be their own thing- glad I listened to my gut because it’s a ton of cabinets to not like-it’s really a great color- looks great with the satin bronze hardware.

Just curious if I choose to change the granite completely, what color will go with oak wood floors and simply white or another white upper cabinets and darker island cabinets? I love the way island without cooktop looks. If I change then I won't be cooking any more :) Can you please give me advice on the kitchen blinds also? I am curious about the name of countertop and backsplash you have in your home?

Step 1: Cut the individual colors out of the sheet they are in so you can see the color directly against the stone. White borders are useful when viewing a sample on a color you are going to be painting over, but not useful when comparing a color to an element that is staying. Step 2: Throw out any samples that clearly don't work with the stone Step 3: View the samples at different times of day and under daylight and artificial light. Throw out any samples that clearly don't work at each viewing. Step 4: Put the samples on the floor. Do they work with your floor? Throw out any that don't work. Step 5: Move the samples around the room. View them on vertical surfaces, not just flat on your counter. Throw out some more. Step 5: If you are keeping wall and trim color, test the remaining samples against those and throw out any remaining ones that don't work. If there are any other elements you are concerned about playing well with the cabinets, do the same for them. Step 6: Now with a much smaller pool of candidates, order large swatches (or sample paint so you can paint your own). Repeat steps 2 through 5 with the large samples. Step 7: Pick your favorite. If you can't pick a favorite by this time, they are all fine; throw a dart and don't stress.
