Gap between floor and door frame

Greetings All:

Need a fix for gap between floor and door frame that is not permanent in case I want to install carpet later (looks better when tooled under instead of cut around). These gaps I believe are where bugs get into the house interior because they connect to the void area between inner & outer wall where they stay out of sight out of mind until they take a wrong turn out of these exits & drop dead nearby from all the bug spray I apply to all the gaps monthly. The pic is of one, but all doors and archways are the same.

I doubt very much that these gaps are the source of bugs...there are too many other ways they can get in. Using bug spray monthly inside your home is unwise from a health risk standpoint: that practice is potentially more injurious than anything the bugs could do. However, if you want to deal with those minor gaps, white painters caulk applied by someone with caulking experience will make them disappear. If you don't have experience caulking, enlist someone who does. It would be very easy to caulk that well and neatly if you know what you are doing, and very easy to have a mess on your hands if you don't.

Having a gap between a structural header and a window casing (or door) is actually a desirable thing, It means any sag in the header will not immediately affect the window, The trim on the inside should easily cover the gap. You did install flashing on the outside, right? The siding will cover that.

Hi, Do you mean a discrepancy between the face frames of two adjacent cabinets? These kinds of gaps are cured with a clamp and screws. The clamp draws the pieces together and the screws hold them in place. If there is wood missing, then that's a quality control issue. Then, either return the defective cabinet, or get out the plane (don't plane enough to mess with adjacent doors interfering with each other, if full-overlay. But then again, if it were full-overlay you wouldn't see the face frame discrepancy anyway) Casey

The "L-end-cap" molding is what is used at exterior doors. It does what you want it to do. Normally you can purchase these products in 8ft - 12ft lengths. You may have to purchase from a door and moulding company rather than Big Box.

Remove that thin, tan strip and put in a wider piece that covers everything. If this is outside your skill set, any competent handyman should be able to do it.
