Our bedroom is 14x15 and we have a king bed, two wide nightstands and a long, low bank of dressers along one wall. And a two side chairs. And there's still plenty of room to walk around. I use 3D Home Architect 3.0 (out of print but available on ebay--later versions are bad) to see if furniture will fit into a room. It's probably more than you want to get into, but there are free programs available online, I think. These programs let you draw your room with windows and doors and then select furniture to drop into the room and move around. They're fun and very, very useful! Most of them also have a 3D walk-through feature.

I did that in my guest room - no problem at all. The carpet is pretty low pile and the rug is a fairly thick sculpted type oriental. I have no pad under the rug. I also have a very short, dense wool oriental rug on the carpet in my living room. That also works fine. I have all these rugs on carpet because I moved from a house with wood floors to one with more carpet. I hope to get rid of the carpet someday when I feel like moving everything again. So then I will need the rugs and in the meantime I can't stand the plain beige carpet. In another room I have a thick wool runner that covers the width of carpet from the deck door to the wood floor in the dining area. It has no furniture on it that holds it in place so it ripples a bit. I need to find a way to keep it flat.

Queen beds are 60x80 inches . Do the Math. Technically speaking, they "will fit". There will be very little room to move about the room and no other furniture would fit in the room. What is your plan for clothing storage? Assuming you use two feet on the wall left of the slider as you enter? With the bed on the shared living room wall? You have 111 inches width for a bed. A queen will use 60 of those 111, leaving room for bedside tables and lamps /both side. Keep those to 24 inched wide. You will have 22 inches between the END of the bed and whatever storage you selelct. That should have sliding or by pass doors. The point is, it will be tight in either bed size, so no point in reducing your own comfort. A full will add only five inches of passage at the foot of the bed, and will be 6 inches less in width, giving you three more inches on each bed side. I'd stick with queen. No bulky headboard or foot board. Curious as to where this is.........as you have no WINDOW in the bedroom.
