Oh NO! Not Adrian Fish AGAIN! Resurrecting a 5-year-old thread. I thought we'd seen the last of him in 2016. I think we determined on the endless thread in 2016 that he could be a competitor of that Johnson lumberyard. Or someone with a personal grudge against whoever owns this lumberyard. Or just someone who enjoys debating on forums who makes up a labyrinth story to get a thread to go on and on. And on. The story didn't hang together in that thread, with holes in it. And there was Adrian's sometimes-coy sometimes-outright refusal to answer key questions, and his odd left-field statements, as had been pointed out several times. Thanks, windowsonwashington. And to the novice, I've done some further digging and I now feel dumb about the amount I was about to pay for windows. I did not realize the mark-up until I priced the Ultimate and Integrity product without the installation (Do this first if you can before you invite anyone into your house. I did not). On average, I was being charged $1700 per window for window and install of the Marvins (Integrity, Infinity and Clad) and about $1,050 per Inline window installed. This seems a lot given that only a few were full frame replacement. Worse, only one of the six quote did a decent job explaining the installation process. A word of advise to folks window shopping, be discipline, methodical, analytical and do not treat the process as something to get done immediately (though I understand why you would feel this way). If you do, you likely will be taken advantage of. Do yourself a favor and give yourself the time to work through the process. Also, there's lot of misinformation out there about the superiority and inferiority of one product vis a vis another. Caveat emptor certainly applies for a purchase this costly. Another thing, read the warranty before you sign. By doing this, I was able to rule out the Infinity product, much as I liked the aesthetic of the casement. I'm sure there's more to come.

Hi Selb, You made a mistake. We actually installed our windows in Sept. 2003, it has been three years. Nope, I am a software engineer in the Silicon Valley. I do not sell windows. I can carry on a long Object Oriented Design conversation longer than I can say much about Sash and frame, just read some of my very none-technical window responses. I registered here in 2003 to ask for help and advice just like other consumers. Unfortunately, no one here answered my questions then. So I decided to be as helpful and as truthful as I can once we have experience with the windows we looked at and purchased. So, just like others here, I am trying to help. I never posted any "response" or "advice" until this year. Even then, I do not dare call my responses "advice" because I am not professional windows person (except Microsoft Windows :-)). They are just personal experience and what we learnt from local windows retailers. I understand many here want to "out" windows salesmen, I applaud your effort. In my case, you are wrong. I challenge you to find a post from me dating to 2005, 2004, 2003. And I challenge anyone to find any of my current posts that "sells" Marvin. We like what we like, we dislike what we dislike, that is not selling, that is telling it like it is. I will continue to share experience good or bad as we have them. You can choose to read them or ignore them.
