Marvin Integrity all Ultrex vs Marvin Infinity
Comments (3)In my opinion, the Marvin Integrity that is all ultrex in and out is just plain ugly and cheap looking. The Infinity is a much nicer looking window. I also remember a Marvin rep telling me a few years back that Infinity utilized a thicker guage fiberglass and it was built better. The jamb on the integrity is very narrow and not 3 1/4 like most replacement windows. I do not like the Integrity ultrex at all....See MoreAnyone have Marvin's Integrity or Infinity?
Comments (2)I put in 12 Infinity full replacements in my circa 1954 house last summer. I think they are very good windows. But the installation was a nightmare. Make sure you have an installer you can trust or you'll be sorry. The only gripe I would have about the windows is this: I wish I had known enough about how the finished window would appear to have had them sized and framed inward about an inch more all around thus necessitating a wider jam extension. They would just look a little more substantial. I chose full replacements because of large gaps around the old window jams/frames that inserts would not have rectified and thus energy efficiency would have been sacrificed. As it is they look great but appear a little less substantial compared to how the original windows looked. It's amazing how quiet the house is now. One other nit pick is that they have full screens and when it rains you can't see out until the water dissipates from the mesh. I would ask to visit someone who has had the windows your considering installed in their home in the last few years. Marvin is a good product for the money but I cannot emphasize enough.... you have to find a skilled trustworthy installer.... Good Luck!...See MoreMixing Marvin Ultimate, Integrity, Infinity in same house
Comments (3)The only thing similar are the colors. These are three very different windows. They should not be in close proximity to each other, same room and same elevation (unless you are mixing doors and windows) in my estimation. With this in mind, I would look at your home window by window to see where this would work....See MoreReplacements - Integrity or Infinity from Marvin, or Sunrise Vanguard
Comments (2)Thanks, HomeSealed, for the reply. I contacted the two companies that gave me full replacement pricing and they only want to do the job as full replacements. Basically, my pricing for 14 openings: 3 sliding glass doors (72x82), 7 gliders (3 - 72x 55; 4 - 72 x 55), 1 72x72 picture window, and 3 double hung (avg 30x50) is around $20- 21.5K. This includes installation, and new wood trim inside and out. I would have to stain the trim myself. Is this reasonable? Will the wood portion of the "wood-ultrex" hold up better over time than traditional wood windows (like my current ones?)....See Morenorcalbl
